Ridiculous stat!

my old man had one and he plays off 25 - he started 15-1-9 ;)

and a girl at my club off 36 had one - at Lothianburn - where you have to play the shot at right angles to the green and let the ball slide down the slope - super flukey! she then lost the ball on the next hole!

am still waiting for mine...sigh

A 28 handicapper got one at my club 5 years ago at the 2nd hole, he'd only been playing about 6 months. His gross score on the day was 126

He's now a 17 handicap

Don't think he appreciated the hole in one at the time as he was so new to the game

son of a friend had one at the 17th Queens course,Gleneagles:eek:

He's 11, used driver, it ran along the slope for most of the way, then rolled in like a putt- Doesn't have a h/cap:eek::lol:

wouldnt have thought so, single figure or up to around 15 h/cap I'd say it would be quite common

Were such golfers always low or single figure though? My mate means EVERY course he had EVER played (and he has played a lot). But maybe not that uncommon and just something he likes to keep going.

And I've never had a hole in one in 40yrs playing - and I'm not at all bothered about it. I'll celebrate if the big man up there deems it fit to give me one one day though - it won't be through my efforts.

My eyes are terrible, and when i first started playing last July i hit a 7 iron on the par 3 3rd at my local course, it was into a glaring sun as well!

My two playing partners, knowing i seriously need to go to specsavers, told me it pitched very very very close to the pin....

As i got closer and closer to the green, i noticed i couldnt see the ball. My heart started pounding.. 'are you sure it was close?' i asked...'yeah sure, it pitched just short of the flag'

So here's me thinking well if it isnt on the green, it must be in the hole...

As i took the flag out my two playing partners are 'pi$$%ng' themselves laughing..

It had in fact cleared the green and was in the thick stuff at the back

Thats probably the closest il ever get to a hole in one...

I have never had one. Seen some by single figures, some by juniors who can barely hit it 150 yards, some by women off 35 and some by high handicapp men. Basically the whole golfing gamut. If you hit it well and it goes in then it don't matter how often you play or what standard
