Do you guys even read the golf monthly tips section? They have been banging on about using the bounce when chipping for years.
 
I agree, that's pretty simple, and I know someone who virtually always uses a 9-iron to chip.

But there are many situations where even a successful one of those will leave you a long way from the pin! That's where chipping with higher loft wedges comes into its own!

Likewise. I use 8-iron or PW, depending on where Pin is, out of preference. But if 'short-sided' I'm happy to use GW or even, rarely, LW. For me, the major consideration is which club can land on the Green that will stop in 'guaranteed' range past the Pin. Just because there's a bunker between the ball and the pin doesn't mean I must use a higher loft either - though it can certainly play in the mind on occasions!
