Since I got my 1st Driver about 4yrs ago, Ive always been 'erratic' to say the least with the Big Dog.
Sure I can hang it out there when it goes well, but so often it lands me in trouble.
Even the Titleist 905R i picked up on Fleabay is the same, mahoosive distance but sometimes mahoosive trouble.
So, because my trusty old WarBird 4Wood is soooo reliable and long, and remembering I still had an old cally WarBird 'Deuce' 2 Wood in the garage, I decided to get it re-shafted from the original Graphite shaft to a Steel one exactly the same as the 4 Wood, with the hopes that it would prove as reliable. (True Temper put me onto a Club Maker who happened to have one in his garage )
Well tonight was its 1st use, and what a result, it was simply fantastic.
We were joined by a 5H/C'er, who hits the ball miles, but even his 909D2 was outdriven on 3 occasions by my trusty old 'Deuce'
Highlight was our 469yd Par4 16th, which I hit with the Deuce & a 7iron to 8', which I simply have NEVER done before.
Now while I only did the exercise of re-shafting to hopefully get better consistency and find the short stuff more often, this looks to have been a resounding success, and quite possibly the best £40 I have spent in my bag.
So, to all of you that crave the latest Drivers, pahhh.........look up an old WarBird, they are simply a stunningly powerful Club. Awesome.
