I have an old Callaway 4wood, with a Steel 'Memphis 10' shaft in, that is sooooo strong and lovely to use. I probably hit it 235/245yds with a lovely penetrating flight, and some great consistency.

However, I also have both a G5 and Titleist 905R Drivers, which can both go considerably further off the tee, but they are both a lot less reliable and can land me in trouble frequently, costing me shots.

I then remembered that I had a Callaway Warbird 'Deuce' 2 Wood from years ago, tucked away in the garage, and low & behold, its still there.
Pretty rubbish RCH Graphite shaft in it, but Ive found a great Club Fitter down south who has a matching original 'Memphis 10' shaft that he can fit in it for me, all for about £40 incl grip & postage .

My thinking is that if the shaft is sooo reliable on the 4 wood, its probably gonna go well in the Deuce too, and might just give me another 25yds off the tee on our longer holes, but more importantly, keep me on the fairway.

Worth a £40 punt ?

:D

Sure, why not. The Memphis 10 is a mid flex midweight shaft, I think, so good for control and should not feel too loose.

If you can hit the deuce a few yards farther than the 4 and keep it on the fairway, it would be a great weapon.

Id say you summed it up in the last 3 words. if you have more faith in the 4w and confidence then this 40.00 is going to give you slighly more length, while not effecting your accuracy then its got to be worth it all day long.

On sunday i started using my 3w just because i was getting wild with my driver, 240 yards and straight is alot better for the scroe card than 280/300 and wild with the driver, atleast i was leaving myself good lies and straight simple shots. especially this time of year where fairway roll is pretty good overall carry isnt needed

Go for it if you're sure that it's the shaft that's keeping you straight, and not the fact that the 4-wood has an optimum distance that you know you'll hit rather than smashing the life out of your driver because it's the one club we want to go as far as possible.

He was reccommended by someone at the True Temper UK office, after I enquired about a possible similar shaft from the current range.

Luckily, he thought he had one kicking around, and low & behold......
