Reminder in the grip?

Gamola are good.

Find a grip you like then in the drop-down box at the side of the picture you will have choices of size and round/ribbed if they do them.

Here's the bog standard Tour Velvet page....

I never even realised they did different sizes until I ordered the wrong size and wondered why they felt a lot thinner than my previous ones.

I see grips. I see size options. I see colour options. I see options for ribbed or round.

So..... what about these 'reminders'?! Do you find them in the tartan paint section?

It's also known as a Rib in some areas.

Actually more like a 'spine' built into the grip to 'remind' the fingers of their correct position.

Specifically allowed under Rules of Golf. Generally opposite to the label, so not something who like label down. and if shaft can be rotated in head - for adjustment - isn't a good idea either.

I thought a reminder was supposed to be a piece of wire from an old coat hanger, it certainly used to be.

Keep up dear boy! (apologies to Patrick).

May have been required with wrapped leather grips, but (can) come built in these days.

Don't think I've had wedges long enough to need re-gripping.

Would say 'Yes' if asked, but could be convinced otherwise.

No worries Foxy.

I only ask as I've heard reminder/ribbed grips feel 'odd' when fitted to wedges if you like to open up the face, in a bunker for example.

It doesn't seem right (rules-wise) to be able to have a ridge in the grip to aid alignment, but that isn't the reason I changed them.

I would agree to an extent, but then it's the same as having a flat edge to the 'face' of a putter grip.. I guess we could all put round putter grips on.

As it happens I never really thought of the reminder helping alignment, I just seem to remember how comfortable it was to grip the club, such that I was thinking about getting them put in my clubs again.

Yeah, when you queried it, that thought sprang to my mind. I wasn't sure whether I turn the grip around or turn wrists. I turn wrists, so it might feel odd - though it's only a tiny difference.

Never heard of these before but tempted. For those in the know do they make a difference

I've always specified/agreed them when changing grips. Wouldn't wait if they weren't in stock though. Not sure whether any of my clubs have them currently, so they are not obtrusive. On those I've used them on, they've been good - er - reminders. They'd be handy on my irons as I tend to close them slightly.

Never heard of them, I was expecting it to be something like a wear indicator that they have on tyres.

Will that be next? Wait I better patent that.:D

I only ever used ribbed......feels much better

Iv tried these but failed to feel the spine all the time.... But then again being a panel beater Iv a pair if hands that wouldnt be out of place in a blacksmiths shed.....
