Like the author I'm a little surprised by how popular one grip brand is on tour https://www.golfmonthly.com/gear/the-one-piece-of-equipment-almost-every-tour-pro-agrees-on

Pity that when they were quizzing these players at the BMW they didn't also ask, "and do golf pride charge you for your grips?

I have mostly golf pride on my clubs too but not by design, that's what were on the clubs when new (they are on a lot of brand new clubs) but since I like them well enough there's no reason to move to something else later i.e if its not broken....

I guess there's no point asking if you folks also have GP, most of you clearly do. But who doesn't use golf pride grips and why?

Used Lamkins for years , the crosslines and rel Ace both very good

Last time I got my clubs regripped I went with the MCC GP ones - plus 4 and they are very good

But Lamkins will also be very popular - a little cheaper as well

Lamkin Crosslines have been the grip of choice for years. However now Superstroke have purchased Lamkin they decided to stop the Crossline range of grips. Means I will probably for the Golf Pride equivalent as I had to have those put on my hybrids that were fitted in June.

A lot of clubs come with GP grips when bought new.

When I replace my grips I use the cheapest reasonable quality Tour Velvet style grips I can find, although this sometimes means using GP grips bought with club makers names on at a vastly reduced price (£1-1.50 each) compared to buying unbranded GP grips.

I have in the past used Winn Wrap grips, back in the days when finding GP plain round grips was very difficult. I also liked the fact they were the same thickness down most of the length of the grip.

Lamkin got bought by SuperStroke last year and I think they're incorporating the Lamkin brand into the SuperStroke brand..
So you may not see Lamkins much longer....

Without going to check my clubs, I'm at work now, I have no idea what grips are on my club. I clearly don't take much notice of it.

If I need a club gripping, I go to the nearest pro shop, my club doesn't have one, ask for a mid size grip, choose the colour and away I go. I don't know the brand, therefore no brand loyalty in this instance. They could all be Golf Pride and I am just unaware.

That is correct they have stopped the crossline range which I thought would have been one of the most popular ones they do.

My clubs mostly have the grips they came with. The only one I've changed is my 5 wood, as I've had that the longest - think there's a Golf Pride multi-compound on it - and my putter as I bought it second hand and changed the grip straight away, to a Winn jumbo pistol grip.

I do need to replace my iron grips as they are disintegrating after nearly 3 years of use. I'm not particularly fussed which ones I put on, I'll probably just pick the cheapest in the shop.

When I have bought grips price is definitely a factor too (as it is with balls)
Interesting though that at least to Pros, grips it would appear, are as important to their game/score than the ball is. And even at club level much is said about ball feel, spin etc etc etc despite the cost of the brand leader. But it would seem grips don’t yet garner that kind of priority at club golfer level?

Surprised to read grips don't seem to matter to most.

Used, it's my hands, so they have to get swapped. Bit like the bog seat when you move house.

Off to Spain shortly and will play with a spare set of my mates and they're the slippiest things known to man. Grips wear and should be changed. Whether that's a quality product or a China special is down to the person paying. But they should be considered - it's a game of feel apparently...

Oh, I use GP MSS plus 4 red.

Recently got a load of videos on instagram showing tennis style golf grips which wrap around your existing grip. Anyone tried these?

Edit: just checked, Alien Pros golf do them

Recently gone from overlap to ten-finger/baseball grip with driver and irons so switched to midsize grips.
I bought the cheapo Champkey grips from Amazon and so far they've been excellent.
£26 for 13 grips. 😎

currently got golf pride tour velvets on all my clubs. It’s a grip I used a lot in the past and liked.

When it comes to changing I’m undecided as my favourite grip is the Golf Pride Victory V55 but they’re as rare as Rocking horse 💩 and when you can find them it’s ridiculously priced.

The cost of grips now like everything is astronomical, so when a change is needed the budget will definitely be the biggest factor.

Used to use Lamkin Crosslines exclusively. Then Lamkin changed their logo and I lost a little bit of love for them...there is something about a script like font which I like...probably why I struggle with the thought of playing Srixon balls with its blocky text.

However, getting a bit more serious, I also felt that there were some formulation changes with the Crosslines back in the day which robbed them a little bit of their feel, and when I picked up a GP Tour Velvet they just felt right.

I started playing the Midsized MCC+4 grips after finding an eBay purchased 3 wood had one on. With my small hands, by popular belief, the fatter grips shouldn't really have worked...but I loved them and have used fatter grips on all my clubs for the last couple of years....another case perhaps of not letting preconceived ideas get in the way of trying something new!

(and then on Sunday I got on perfectly well with a normal sized set of grips...Maybe that's testament to mans to adjust to whatever scenario is thrown at him)and

So yeah...was once a committed Lamkin fanboi...now a concert to Golf Pride.

I have Champ C8 grips on my clubs. Great grips, soft, hard-wearing and a quick wash brings them back to being nice and tacky.
I thought I had built up a stock but given up as I couldn't find them. I was clearing out my garage the other day and found 10. That'll be my regripping exercise for next spring.

Always played golf pride tour velvet full cords. I’d lamkin years ago on a set of irons, again full cords. But yeah golf pride have the market sewn up.

I have titleist logo full cords on every club because they were fitted, but I think even then it’s golf pride tour velvets just with Titleist logo

I have Ultramax Lite grips on mine.
There like cricket bats .
But if there good enough for Bryson there good for me.

Wrist injury forced me to swap.

Even though I have small hands I went to mid-size about 5 years ago just because they felt so much more comfortable in my hands. About that time I started replacing my own grips and started experimenting with extra layers of tape. Most of my grips are currently Lamkin Oversize with at least 5 layers of tape. My wedges and my 11 wood have Jumbomax Zen lite? on them......so-so with them, too much taper for me. I'm just waiting for my next experiment urge to give the Jumbomax Ultralite a try.....probably in small.
