Recommend me a golf ball retriever

Can't you just pull it out to a set length, and then add ten percent? I've heard the metric ones are more expensive?

I think that would create a whole new set of problems with errors on the tipping point & swing speed. Prob best to get metric and then have it converted to imperial if I return to UK

There's a good drill that you can do to get optimimum use out of one. If you go to the muddiest lake on the course, then, without actually using the retriever, get your weight going forwards, lean over and actually force yourself to fall in. You will find that the next time to come to use it, the retriever itself feels really light in your hands.

I hoping to win the lottery so I can get one of those state of the art retrievers with a tiny medical endoscopic camera (waterproof) at the end so that I can be sure that it's my ball before I waste time collecting it.

You are going the wrong way about this!

Spending a lot of money on a custom fitted ball retriever is a waste. Use the money on lessons with a decent pro and learn to hit the ball straight, long term this will eliminate the need for one.

You are probably coming out of the shot too early causing a slice or possibly flipping the hands over at impact causing the ball to go left.

Can you post a video so we can have a better look please?

Don't go to AG, they ramp up the water temperature to "Bahamian cliff diving" setting, which affects the water density, making you feel that you are gaining quicker entry conditions. Like a knife through butter it was. I could have sworn that he put a cup of soup in when I tried the £50 cheaper one though, so that it made me feel like I was struggling. Minestrone as well, the charlatan.

I attach a link to a vid of me using mine. I have modelled myself on Adam Scott. Note how I have disassociated my legs from my upper body as I lean over the reeds and its all hip action as reach for that errant range ball.

I wouldnt suggest a white one, apparently its a short term 'fad'. Also, apparently Taylormade have just launched a new one (Launch date 14/02/2014) called the R6.

Update (19/2/2014 9.10am) - the R6 is now out of date. the R8 has just been launched
Update (19/2/2014 2.30pm) - The R8 is now out of date, the R10 has just been announced.

I thought it would be better to use an old thread, rather than start a new one, but having seen the very low quality of the replies, I'm not so sure...
Anyway, this is a serious request for information. I've a birthday coming up, and would like to recommend said device to my dear children for purchase.
I'd like it to un-extend to a fairly compact size, as I'd likely be carrying it in a rucksack or sports bag.
In case that sounds odd, I often take the train to my club, and the walk from the station takes me the length of the first hole. It's on the slice side of the fairway and is bordered by thick, prickly bushes in wnich numerous freshly unboxed pro-vs can be seen just out of reach (particularly if a large society has played recently).
I'd just like any particularly reliable/poorly made examples to be highlighted so that I can enjoy many happy years of not paying £4 a ball.

Declare the ball lost and a guy I know will go to the bottom of it the pit to find it. He does tend to slow the game down though.
Sadly I do not think we could even give him away let alone sell him

He would even be there since 2014 if he was left to his own devices.

Try a Labrador, dog or bitch it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't advise the above from 2014, they are very reluctant to give them up and an expensive trip to the vet might be needed. This was my Black Lab a couple of months ago.
