I had a 900 3-door for 10 years. The hatch boot was cavernous. One of only two cars I've owned that I regret selling.

I had a few of them. The pre 1992 ones, not the later Vauxhall ones. Don't know how much golf stuff could fit in there though. Though one bag and trolley fitted easily.

With mud like that, I wouldn't go near a course. Wonder what your shoes and trousers end up like? 🤣

Well the shoes are in the other picture...

Generally the course was quite firm last time I played....just a couple of areas at the lowest part of the course are a bit soft....also very muddy on the exit from 18 as were are having work done there.

I think I posted this on another thread but the Smax boot really is massive. I've since discovered you can get the bag in lengthways with just the driver out or across with none out.

The driving position is high enough that you're level with all but the bigger SUVs and it drives lovely as it's built on a mondeo chassis. I'd say it's more a tall estate as opposed to people carrier.

Suzuki Vitara. I don't know about the newer ones, mine is 2019 model. I went around with my golf bag and tried a few different cars....Volkswagen S-cross (had to take driver out and would just fit diagonally), Seat models....couldn't fit bag sideways, Skoda Karoq...really wanted this one, but they were having some engine issues at the time. My wife's daughter had a Vitara and it was a good fit for the clubs. I was getting rid of a 4 year old Polo....too hard to get into when my back was stiff (almost always), had to keep the rear seats folded down all the time...wife hated it, and I wanted to go back to an automatic gearbox. When the time comes to replace the Vitara (several years) I might be in trouble. I have NO urge for a car with lane assist, auto braking, auto engine shut off, vibrating seats, co-pilot, etc etc, and I don't want to spend half an hour turning all of them off before I start.

We have both. Wife has a QashQai and loves the "high-up" feeling. I have an Audi RS6 and it sits lower than the QQ. In terms of loading, space, ease, etc. its the Audi for me every day.
Tell me about it... We recently bought a Qashqai as we needed a bigger car for the new baby and everything. It's a great car to drive but nowhere near as big as you might think. With the Isofix base for the carseat in the back, the front passenger seat has hardly any leg room. The boot fits the pram in it which it needed to, but it doesn't leave much room for anything else. In July we'll need to fit in the pram, two golf bags and a trolley among some other bits, I'm not entirely convinced we'll manage it. As you say, it's really just a medium car with a high driving position, which I guess is also handy for loading the baby + carseat in without doing your back in bending down - but that's about it.

Unfortunately i found the same issues when viewing the sportage - being pretty tall with two child seats in the back I wasn't really able to get in a comfortable driving position. But then in all but the biggest cars I'd have that issue tbh.

Although the Tucson is based on the same chassis as the Sportage it did seem marginally more spacious somehow.

As someone who has recently gone through the whole new car and wanting an SUV, we found that unless you go for something like the Kodiaq, Q7, Touareg etc you're really not gaining anything in terms of space compared to a big estate.

Most of them seem to be just normal hatchbacks on stilts.

I'd be more than happy with an estate but for 3 issues for me. Driving height (not required, but nice), ease of sitting down, parking an estate car (harder?). I don't drive around town like a bank robber, so wonderful handling isn't important.

Find a second hand Citroen C4 Picasso. Genius cars for where you are at right now.

Don't... we were an inch away from buying a Tucson but it was snatched from under our noses while my wife was sorting the finance for it.

Having only had our car about six weeks I don't think we'll be changing it any time soon, but thanks for the recommendation anyway. As I said, the Nissan is a nice car, they're just not as big as they first appear. Driving it actually made me want to upgrade my Fiesta for something bigger as well.. 😂

Anyone had experience of trying to fit clubs in a Tiguan?

Had a cracking offer on an R Line, very tempted if the clubs will fit.

Be worth looking at a Skoda Karoq which is essentially the same car - might get better VFM.

We have the bigger Kodiaq and it's the best car I've ever owned, and zero issues getting my clubs in.

Had a Karoq for a couple of years....the boot is a squeeze to get a cart bag and trolley. It was doable, but a bit of a faff. Woods had to come out too. I should have just started putting the clubs on the backseat instead, but I was stubborn. I miss the car.

Now I think about it, the geometry of the Tiguan config is slightly different with a higher boot and slightly wider - the Karoq floor drops down I think IIRC. The actual passenger space is comparable.

In this case - the Kodiaq is your friend. Like the Tiguan but with even more space in the boot. And it's bloody lovely to drive.

Are massive SUVs really the answer? I can get both my Powakaddy cart bag and FW5 trolley in the boot of both a saloon and a Gran Coupe style car.

Only thing in the coupe is the wheels need to come off but I tend to bag the wheels in any case to prevent mud spread.

Big shopping trolley type motors are fine for farmers and the off road set.

Kodiaq is coming out a good bit more expensive than the Tiguan.
