Just to throw a spanner (and midlife crisis) into the works, my A5 coupe takes a set of clubs and a trolley without any issue in the boot. I know it's not an SUV, but... it's a brilliant car! 🤣

I had a mooch around some car dealers at the weekend, dropped into Toyota and had a look inside the RAV4, the boot was absolutely massive, very impressive.
Our seniors captain has one and as you say, plenty big enough. He takes it to France every year with 3other guys and room for clubs and luggage.
As an aside, when working I was taking one back to our depot, on the A23, light traffic, good weather and I looked down at the speedo and was doing 100mph. So smooth and quiet but quickly reduced speed to 70!!

I wish I'd known the sportback version existed before I bought my latest car 🙄. Effectively an A4 hatchback, 5 doors. Ideal for golf and looks the part as well still. Next car.............

The Sportback is good, but we decided we just didn't want the extra doors! 🤣 Honestly, you'll love it!
Out of interest, what did you go for?

Mazda 6 estate ☹. It was a bit of a rush job, previous car, an old Mercedes E, was driven into, insurance decided to write it off and took the hire car away sharpish. I needed something quickly and to be fair you get a lot of car, second hand, for your money.

It does everything well but doesn't inspire for whatever reason. It's a real 7 out of 10 in every capacity but nothing quite hits an 8. I'm not a petrolhead so not looking for anything silly but I just haven't warmed to it. Can't put my finger on it 🤷‍♂️.

Now I know the A5 is there I'm starting to dislike the Mazda quite irrationally now 😄

My opinion of course, but SUVs with a large boot are horrible looking cars, crap to drive and inefficient in terms of fuel due to their vast bulk and poor drag coefficient. The smaller ones generally seem to have a smaller boot than they should.

A Skoda Octavia is the absolute sweetspot for a car that looks good, drives well and has a big boot.

I drive a Fiesta, you can get clubs in if you remove the driver but you wouldn't get a trolley in as well. I have a locker and leave my push trolley in the shed.

Had a RAV4 for a day in Costa Rica last year. It was a thing of beauty to drive and felt solid. Driving it through the jungle and rivers it was fantastic.Gutted to hand the keys back.

Not sure if you’re on Pistonheads or not, but a few years ago there was cracking lease deals on the 8 Series Coupe, I had one on order in Barcelona Blue but had to cancel as the oil rig I was on lost it’s contract and my job wasn’t certain so did the sensible thing 🙄🙄🙈
Ended up getting moved, still devastated to this day, would still love one 😂😂

The car I have is a seat Leon. Always drop the seats back. But the problem for me is the clubs and trolley drop into the boot. I have the Motocaddy remote, twin motors. Close to 15-16kg and it is a hefty unit to lift out of the boot. The next car I have will have a boot level with the bumper 👍
