Since I retired I have taken the opportunity to play some of the courses with which we have reciprocal agreements, these include Panmure, Scotscraig, Downfield, Ladybank, Cruden Bay and Goswick, have also played The Roxburghe, where we only pay £20, many times, we also have arrangements with three quality courses in Australia that we can play for free, know of a few members that have used this, interested to see what others have.

We don't have any. We had one with Cleveland GC which is a pure links course and is always open. During every wet spell all the members of my club would book times there and literally take over the course. The agreement only lasted a year.

On a similar vein. A few years ago Seaton Carew offered a 4 month winter membership for £200. Members from every parkland course in the area flooded in to the point that actual full time members of the club were struggling to get a game. That only lasted one year.

We have a dozen reciprocal arrangements with a variety of clubs in Surrey, Berkshire, Hampshire area - one of which is Royal Ascot of which I have heard a bit - but apparently the members ...;)

I haven't (yet) been able to take advantage of any of them because they are all for playing during the working week and for a four ball. And it just isn't that easy for me and three working pals to coordinate a day mid-week. That said, we know it should be possible and we were going to make an effort this year...hmmm...there is always 2021.

We don't have any reciprocals as such but we are members of the 1906 Club and the James Braid Association, both of which give us access at reduced rates to clubs formed in 1906 and those designed by Braid.
Quite a decent list to choose from.

We’ve half a dozen. Taken advantage twice at Hankley and Parkstone. As per the previous post it’s the weekday aspect that stops me taking advantage more often. I see more courses by signing up for club “friendly” matches which are weekend fixtures.

We have an arrangement at Royal Sydney, a couple of years ago I’d sorted out a business trip that would have encorporated a round there, only for the meetings to be changed to Melbourne the week before.?

We’re also a Braid course never thought about taking advantage of this.

Is there more info on the Braid Association? My club haven't mentioned this!

James Braid Association
Ellesborough Golf Club is a member of The Association of James Braid Courses.

Formed in 2009 by one of Henley Golf Club’s Past Captains and Past President, the Association now has over 300 member clubs of the some 411 courses James Braid either designed originally or altered (of the 411, 39 are defunct and 6 were plans only).

The courses are to be found in Ireland, Wales, England and Scotland with one in New York. Ellesborough Golf Club members and members of all the clubs in the Association can enjoy preferential green fees at these courses, by booking in advance. A full list of courses and rates is posted below.

Association JB Courses 2019

The list is updated each year with new member clubs and amended rates.

There are some conditions attached to this offer, which are listed below.

2. You must state when booking that Ellesborough are part of the Association of James Braid Courses
3. A handicap certificate will need to be shown when arriving at the host club

6. Green fees are valid for both Ladies and Gentlemen
7. The rates are for members only and not a group or society booking

My club is 125yrs old next year...I've a feeling there may be a 125yr old association offering some form of reciprocals - if there isn't there should be...:)

Hmm some of your reciprocals are a tad more illustrious than the only one I ever used; Council course in Cowdenbeath, if it shut for snow we could go play the links at Kinghorn foc

Have used a number of them, a great way to play other courses at normally members guests rates or even for free at some. Normally booked via the office of your club, but well worth it.

A great extra of membership for me.

Think most of the ones I have, I would class as fairly equal course status wise.

You sound like a member of the same club as me.

We have reciprocal arrangements with Blairgowrie, Burnham and Berrow and Moortown.

Burnham is the other end of the country so don't see me going down there but the others maybe.

Certainly spend enough time in Scotland to take the clubs and fit in a trip to Blairgowrie at some stage.

Where I play quite a few withdrew the offer at the start of lockdown 1
Each club makes it own arrangement re cost, and tee times. None offer weekends.

We have reciprocal arrangements with 13 Scottish golf clubs and are also a James Braid course so have access to them throughout the UK and other places.
The reciprocal arrangement is really good with some decent courses. A great initiative by the club to give something extra to the members.
