Absolutely inspired that you've shared this  Steph's backswing for me great rotation nice and smooth and Mr Harris' through swing very controlled and nice acceleration into impact. But I do have some other questions. Why don't the young 'uns Narey, Tappin, Clarke and Bonfield not complete their backswing. You are supposed to be supple young bucks, get those shoulders turning boys ;) ...

... that said you all have better handicaps than me so I should really keep schtum ;)

Do you read the magazine at all ? :D :D only kidding .... all their handicaps are in the club testing report bit, prob the same day the videos were shot . . havent got it with me , but there Jezz & Mike are down round 6/7
tappers is 5 i think ,

I usually buy it and then forget to read it! I haven't bought this month's yet because I haven't read the last two that I bought.

I guess this shows it doesn't have to be pretty to score well! They are obviously much better golfers than me so I'll shut up criticising their golf swing now...

Having played with a few of the guys at various events I have to say that regardless of the swings, they certainly know how to get round a course well (did I get away with that? phew!)
One thing that struck me though was how many of you guys have a very short backswing, Alex hits a long ball and yet only swings halfway back.
Mike, you need firmer shafts, the flex on that iron looked quite soft as it bent like crazy at the transition from back to down.
Stephanie has a great swing if I had to mention anything itd be perhaps give it more welly on the weight transfer.
Nick, Tom and Neil looks grand, Kev is a little armsy but pretty good to be fair, that leaves Bill, I have to say, I love your pieces in the magazine each month. :D

What the hell is Jezz wearing? Is he off to Afghanistan?

Jezz is modelling the FootJoy DryJoys Performance Light Rain Shirt in brown with red trim, with non-matching FootJoy DryJoys Performance Light trousers in black.

He is also a little bit wet and bedraggled and attempting to progress his score on from the 1 point earned over the opening two holes...

Stephanie is clearly the art editor for a reason - her swing is a work of art!

Neil's isn't bad either

Another vote for Steph, text book position at the top of the backswing with everything looking on plane and she then gets through the ball well. The ball looks to go off like a tracer with a just a touch of draw.

I think what this thread tells us is that there are many ways to hit the ball and still score well. ;)

Don't suppose you want to hear that the course was firm and dry when we played a forum meet at West Hill a couple of weeks ago. Jane and Gina are very nice in the office.

James will be disappointed with the lack of S & T. :mmm:

I assume the third was playing into the wind, and Stephanie was playing a low draw with the ball back in her stance ? Good to see that one of the staff can still make a full turn.

A bit tentative and risking out to in. Pretty smooth though swaying rather than turning.

Digital Editor Neil Tappin

Can I buy this swing please! Though I hope you don't stay behind the ball like this with irons.

Managing Editor Alex Narey

Flat short and quite handsy. I'd suggest you take advantage of your height, get a bit steeper and give it a proper smack!

Associate Editor Jeremy Ellwood

Too much of a stiff but floppy heave! Grip it a bit tighter and turn with a straighter left arm and a slightly shorter backswing - so you don't lose control with that overswing. Another swayer. Hips start well but stop halfway down so too armsy. I suggest you open your left foot 30* to encourage more hip turn on the downswing. Looks too much like mine!!

Editor-at-Large Bill Elliott

Even more of a swayer - with a determination to stay behind he ball. Very little, well not enough, weight shift on the downswing.

Content Editor Tom Clarke

Nice half swing!

Art Editor Stephanie Atkinson

Women's swings very often put Men's ones to shame and here's another example! Early wrist cock loses a bit of control at the top and a tiny bit of overswing. Downswing pretty good but hips don't turn until after impact, though that tends to help avoid casting. Feet seem slightly too far apart and alignment seems closed - certainly to where ball went. Upper body also seems a bit stiff at address. Another I'd suggest opening the left foot 30 degrees or so.

Junior Staff Writer Nick Bonfield

Another half backswing, followed by a bit of a heave as a downswing. Quieter knees and a better turn would help.

Photographer Kevin Murray

Old style bent arm on backswing and weight shift (only just) borders on sway. Upper body leads down-swing a bit much. Position at impact looks wonderful! Tendency to push if timing not spot on? Feet are aligned slightly open too. Set-up seems more geared to iron style, with shaft leaning forward, but it's the impact position that's important - and that's the best of the lot!

Tappers is a good solid swing but Steph is very compact and flowing. Mind you having had the pleasure of playing with a large number of these guys (sorry Steph we haven't met yet) they are all more than capable of taking your cash. That Jezz in particular despite his diminutive stature and rotund girth can certainly get it out there
