Just wondered how much putting practice people have.We talk allot about practice down the range but putting is probably more important as this can make or break a round.
Would practice in the lounge, but the 17 month old son insists on a) hiding all my balls, and b) throwing them at full swing in any random direction, including at the TV, fish tank, patio doors, the wife, etc. The cat also thinks it's highly amusing to chase them across the floor. Fine chance!
Got one of those practise putting mats but its pretty useless, thinking of skipping the kids trampoline in the garden and making my own practice green !!!
Have a six foot putting mat and a eyeline putting mirror (with adjustable bars to keep the club online back and through)
Because the mat is flat on the floor it is easy to hole the putts. The eyeline helps make sure your eyes are over the ball and the shoulders are square but once you have used the groove bar for 10 minutes the stroke is pretty much set. It then become boring very quickly knocking putt after putt.
Now the later nights are here I'm planning to spend an hour two days a week to putting practice with the mirror. Sadly the putting green at my club is crap at the moment and the one at the local range is flooded due to the heavy snowfall so it looks like at least another few days before I can try and get out there.
I plan to spend a couple of hours a week at our club practicing distance and alignment which should pay dividends on the course. The course is on the way home so its easy to pop in for 1/2 an hour.
I try to do around 2 hours a week (one session) divided between putting and chipping. I don't always succeed though and tend to do more putting as it's easier to get on the putting green than chipping area.
