Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

If you are celebrating the news then you've had a mare. If you are just reporting it, but will end up hearing her on the coverage, you've had a mare 😂

Could have been worse . Come back to us on that one, you might revise your thinking. She is to golf what Michael Owen is to football punditry

I was just reporting it LT - like I say, I've not watched that much of her so can't really have an opinion.

We'll see how she gets on at LIV anyway won't we - she might well be able to present with more freedom or a different style to what she was allowed, to please the aged Sky Sports Golf audience.

But genuinely, Faldo has me turning off the television and Dame Laura isn't far behind - like most things, it's all about personal opinions and preferences.

Even Owen has played at a high level - Huel hasn’t , she is just poor on every level, maybe more like Aluko

Hopefully it means we get to hear more from Iona 👏👏👏
It doesn't matter what level Owen has played at, he's shocking on tv

Agree about Iona, she is excellent. Hopefully they see sense and bring her in more.

😂😂😂

Present with more “freedom”

What was she not allowed to do as a presenter on Sky Sports Golf

Am with you on the faldo factor... Absolutely does my head in.. Ruins the Masters every year.. Laura is OK but that's all..
I actually like Henni... Even if it's mainly from a visual point of view.. 🤣

I wish they had a "No Commentary" button on the remote.
It does my head in with them all trying to get a turn at gabbing about bugger all.
I regularly have to Mute when they are blathering on when someone is on their shot. Trouble with that is the mute symbol can block some of the view. Also, I like to hear the crowd reactions and club connections etc.

I do think three people in the studio is too many. They should have one presenter (Murray or Dougherty usually), plus one co-commentator. I think the problem with having two co-commentators is that they both want to out-do each other and get their words in so they end waffling more to justify them being there. If there was just one, then the presenter would ask them for their insight, they give it, and that's an end to it. Would be better in my opinion. Was the same on the football when they started having like, Neville and Carragher in the studio and they'd just be arguing with each other live on air. Can't be arsed listening to that.

I agree with this.
1 presenter telling the viewer who is on screen, what hole, how far behind/ ahead they are.
1 expert telling you what they are trying to do/shot they are trying to hit.

You can still have the on course commentary as well

Agree with the above about too many commentators. I actually think they should have more on course commentators, their insight into each shot is much more interesting because they can see and feel the conditions the player’s facing. The rest is just drivel stats they’ve got written down and are determined to trot out at some point.

Similarly in football, I don’t mind the commentary about the actual football, their insight into decisions being given, analysis of a goal/pass/tackle etc. But what I can’t stand is the commentator shoe horning some useless bit of info in ‘the last time David beckham had fish and chips on a Tuesday in February, he scored within a month’ in the weird hope that he’ll score ‘there you go, he always scores within a month of having fish and chips in February’.

Always worth remembering that a golf event last for over 8 hours , so there will be different sets of commentary teams and pundits doing shifts and also main presenters change during the comp

OWGR must not have realised the PIF Saudi International was starting on a Wednesday as they haven’t given the event a field rating despite the fact that day 1 is practically over…

Surrat and Meronk both posting 9 unders to lead the way.

Tabuena and Scott Vincent have both scored solid on the first round as they look to get those top 2 places in the international series and get a place on LIV next year.

Dougie Donnelly on comms. 👍

You've summed it up just as I see it, especially your football examples and the nonsensical stats. . . . "The last time they won a match on a tuesday 7:45 kick off in their green away kit was . . . blah blah blah......"
Similar with snooker. Loads of guff about bugger all.
