Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

I do think three people in the studio is too many. They should have one presenter (Murray or Dougherty usually), plus one co-commentator. I think the problem with having two co-commentators is that they both want to out-do each other and get their words in so they end waffling more to justify them being there. If there was just one, then the presenter would ask them for their insight, they give it, and that's an end to it. Would be better in my opinion. Was the same on the football when they started having like, Neville and Carragher in the studio and they'd just be arguing with each other live on air. Can't be arsed listening to that.
Unless it's Faldo, in which case you would have hours of Faldo talking about Faldo. And nothing else.

Heaven help LIV if they get that w....er Radar, even the wife hit's the mute button when he comes on.....and then she just changes channel.

Am amazed how many Brits like him, including me Pommie mates.

Only one worse for me is Shambles.

Anthony Kim up the leaderboard.

You can’t dislike this.

Bogey free 7 under from AK today, well done lad 👍

That surely very much depends on someone’s morals at the end of the day

He is being painted at times as someone who has been wronged by life and deserves all the sympathy

Most prob don’t give too hoots about him

What is this event ? The promotions thing

Yeah, it's the promotions thing where all the LIV players that are clearly still on LIV, and are visible on the leaderboard, are trying to qualify for next year....

So it’s not the promotions event ? What is it then - and sorry beyond Stenson who knows who was relegated 🤷‍♂️

It's the PIF Saudi International, the final round of the International Series on the Asian Tour. The top 2 players in the international series standings will qualify for LIV 2026.

The promotions event is in January at Black Diamond Ranch in Florida. LIV are charging $25 to enter - subject to meeting the criteria for qualification into the event - which will be passed on to a nominated charity. The PGAT have banned anybody that plays in it, for 12 months, regardless of which tour they play on.

Baffles me how PGAT can ban players for 12 months when they’re not even their players to ban. Stinks of elitism and trying to play the we’re bigger than you card, it’s actually quite sad.

Also ironic when you consider Golfers are essentially self employed people who are supposed to have freedom to ply their trade where they wish without being banned as long as they meet the qualifying criteria! Imagine banning plumbers from working in certain houses because they’ve worked in others you don’t like.

So to change the qualifying criteria to ban people from playing their tour because they’ve worked and played somewhere that you don’t like is a farce.

If the PGAT didn’t implement draconian bans the tour would collapse as players left.
Is it elitism or protectionism - we could discuss that all day.

What the bans do prove is the PGAT isn’t strong enough to compete on merit.

Surely no one should be surprised 🤷‍♂️

When the ESL was created do you think that the prem were right to threaten clubs that entered it with bans from the Prem and also UEFA ?

And it’s not “on merit” when the only reason players went it because of being offered untold amounts of money - take that money away and how many move ?

The PGAt will protect themselves , just like all Tours protect themselves

Elitism or protectionism can certainly be debated.

I don’t for one minute believe the tour would collapse or that it’s not strong enough to compete on merit.

It has the biggest events in world golf outside of the Majors, The Players championship, Memorial, Bay Hill, Colonial, Genesis etc just to name a few. It has the largest number of OGWR points available to golfer as well as several other benefits.

I don’t like how it’s run, I don’t believe in banning players for choosing to as a self employed person play elsewhere, I don’t like how it’s essentially cheapened and lessened the European Tour (DPWT) to what is now essentially just a feeder tour. I’m not even the biggest fan of watching it as majority of events are quite dull samey type courses. BUT not for one minute do I believe it would collapse or cannot compete on its own merits.

What a ridiculous whataboutery comparison comparing a football club to self employed golfers who by rights like any other self employed person should be entitled to freedom of choice where they ply their trade!

Restructuring the whole European football system is a far cry from a self employed individual choosing to play golf for a different tour. People are ok. yourself included with players going from DPWT etc to better themselves but then have ridiculous notion that someone choosing a different option LIV is not ok and should be sanctioned.

Don’t worry about replying as you tend not to reply to those of us that will call you out and only respond to people you think you can shout louder than 😒

Well if it could compete on it's own merit, why don't those leading the tour let it stand up to scrutiny.

Objectively though, if the tour had allowed players to play where they choose, we can probably assume a situation whereby the tour would have ended up with a reduced number of high profile events, which allowed room in the calendar for players to switch between LIV, the PGAT and the DPWT based on their preferred choices, so you'd have stronger PGAT events than current ones, but less of them. Harris English of course has alluded to a restructuring of the PGAT this week, which suggests fewer events could be part of the tours future.

How many LIV events can the LIV golfers miss that would have allowed them to switch between ?

Could for example they miss a LIV event on Saudi and then play in Europe instead - as people have said they are self employed contractors etc

People will do strange things when they feel threatened! Such as imposing sanctions that are over zealous that doesn’t mean it can’t compete on its own merit and that can’t be proven until it gives it the chance but it won’t do it to try and prove importance.

I haven’t heard Harris English comments but I’m sure I will at some point and I’ll be interested to read them.
