Professional Golf 2024 & 2025

Yeh, agree with that. Historically a great tournament, some say it should be a major, and so it would’ve been nice if all the top players played in it. They all seem to be against too much travel, which seems alien to me. I know I don’t travel away from home every other week so it’s easy for me to say, but it’s not a bad life is it! How awful, I’m off to Australia for a couple of weeks to play golf for millions of dollars!

Issue is always going to be the US based golfers - it’s now wind down to holiday season etc etc and they won’t want to leave the US - it’s part of the issue of professional golf and why the US is the main market - only thing that forces the players elsewhere is money

The Aus Open out of the 3 i believe is the lowest prize fund

I thought money was evil.......got that wrong.

Correct. Players will not travel to Australia for a $2M total purse. This tournament will need to find more sponsors or more appearance fees.
Easy for people to say players should play this tournament more, or it should be a major. Look at the economics.

For anyone who already spends a large portion of their life on the road. I can well understand why they don’t want to travel to the arse end of nowhere to play another tournament. And despite what the natives think, not everyone is desperate to go there.

And if they do play. A rather large chunk of their prize money is taken by the Aus government. It’s just not worth the hassle.

Let’s be honest most of them in the US couldn’t be bothered to cross the Atlantic most of the time to play any events in Europe

I’m no LIV fan but the sooner they find a way to have big Opens around the world the better

So looks like there are 3 top level events this week

Down Under there is a the Australian Open

Then in SA there is the Nedbank

And then there is a Hero Challenge on the PGAT

In some ways it’s good that we have top golfers playing all over the world at the same time but it’s a shame that more of the top guys don’t focus on the Aus Open which imo should be the man attraction this week
Interesting seeing the owgr projections
Field Rating Proj 1st
Aus Open 121 21
Nedbank 100 21
Hero 115 30

You do have to beat 19 players at the Hero mind for those 30 points

I thought they all played for the prestige and trophy......money is evil, didn't you know.
