Pro V1 or Pro V1x

I have played Pro V and Pro Vx along with other premium brands especially the Bridgestone offerings and I really don't notice any difference between either and wouldn't tell the difference in a blind test.

Maybe that is a typo, or this could be news to you, but Titleist market the X as the higher launching of the 2.

My own personal opinion: I never fell in love with the ProV1 and happily used any equivalent. The few hits I had with the X weren't good, the ball felt too hard for me.

This year I won a sleeve of X's so tried one out when I didn't want to break out a 'good' ball, and I loved it.
These things can sometimes depend on how you are playing regardless of ball, but it seemed to give a much nicer flight for my swing. I also expected it to spin less on greenside shots because of it being harder than a ProV1, but I think it spins more.
Could all be horse manure, but it's now my favourite ball - something I thought I'd never say with my swing speed.

Launch angle and trajectory aren't the same thing :) I know you know that!

In simple terms I expect, and observe, the ProV1 to start low and climb whilst the x will launch a few degrees higher but keep going forwards rather than up. However this will be swing speed impacted - and I am only 100 not 120.

I agree that both are equally capable of 'grab'.

My preference is for the X but that's 100% subjective and both work fine (as do loads of other balls!)

The October edition of National Club Golfer magazine has an extensive article on golf balls including the difference between the ProV1 and the V1x. Having used both the V1x flies a bit higher, doesn't slice or hook as much and is a smidge firmer around the greens which seems to fit in with the official description.

As with all discussions over balls - I do wish I could say 'well I hit that 6i exactly the same as the one before, and ball flight and distance were identical...'

But I can't

I can honestly say that I would not driver further, chip better, putt better or do anything better with a Pro V1 than I do with a Callaway Supersoft.

I can honestly say that nothing comes close to the Pro V1x for me.
When hitting it at my best I often go to the range or on a hole and try the different balls consistently (cheap, mid-range, expensive).
Every single time without fail, the Pro V1x comes out on top and is on average 20 yards further than all other balls - even the likes of the Z Stars and Bridgestone/TM equivalents.
Yes - distance isn't everything, but it's better and it feels better.

Get on a proper launch monitor and you can measure exactly that.

what's a launch monitor? Besides - I very rarely hit the same iron exactly the same with the same results. But will have a word with my pro on that - now that he's just about stopped my sh**king
