So its nearly here, this friday i'll be taking part in my first ever Pro - am.

For a 28 handicap (probly the only one there) i'm feeling fairly confident. Played last saturday and shot 46 on the front 9 then 56 on the back nine (it was pouring down with rain on the back 9). Played sunday and shot 44 front nine and 47 back nine, my best ever round. Wasnt with a member though so couldnt hand in a card.

I'm not over doing the range practise this week as i dont want to develop any swing flaws or worries so just hitting 30 balls wednesday evening then a bucket before the round on friday.

Anyways, i'll be letting you all know how i get on and if i can contribute on 6 holes i'll be happy.

Good stuff, Minty. Hope it goes well.

I've played in a couple of pro-am's and they can be quite daunting at first. My advice would be just to pay like a kid, i.e. aim at the target and pull the trigger. Mostly, just enjoy the day and try to take some tips from the way your pro plays.

Enjoy it. At least you won't have to worry about lightining fast greens. Don't get too wrapped up in technique or try too hard to make a socre. Relax, trust the swing mechanics you have and just play each hole on its merits. If you hit a bad shot use your strokes and play back out onto the fairway and go from there.

Have fun and let us know how it goes. Where is it btw?

Good luck mate, hope it goes well for you. Just watch the drive on the hole which runs parallel with the A14 ;) I can't remember the number!

Enjoy it and dont be intimidated at all.

I played in my 1st one too in September, the pro was a great guy to play with and we had a real laugh.
I played well, he had a shocker by Pro's standards, and none of us worried about it too much.

Day was helped along mind you by one of our fella's rolling out to the 15th tee where we started in the shotgun start, and realising he still had his nice shiny slip on's on and he'd left his Golf Shoes in the car !!
He slipped all over for 4 holes till we passed the Car park on the way round, and we all pissed ourselves for 4 holes !

Great fun, so just hope your Pro isnt in the running for the money and you'll be fine :)

Best of luck Minty

Quick question for you. How do you find the RAM QUB3 3wood.
I bought one saturday after trying it out for few days. I
was hitting it ok when I was trying it out, took it out in the medal on Sunday and it cost me big time.

Thanks for the words of encouragement lads, i'm going out with the mindset of enjoying the day and hopefully picking up a few pointers from watching the pro's. I get on really well with my pro and its very much a learning exercise for me although i'm sure if he's in a good position it'll become alot more serious.

Will let you know how i do.

I played in one once, first hole both the pro and a mate of mine hit the green in two and were both putting for birdies. I had played 3 so picked my ball up. Pro had a right go at me because he had been late on the tee and been penalised two strokes so was actually sitting four.
How did I know? The prat didn't say anything on the tee.

Hope you have a great day and as others have said, just relax and enjoy YOUR game.

lol smiffy.

The last one I played in, I eneded up doing far more of the scoring than I expected, pro's can have a bad day too minty, you should just enjoy yourself, its a great experience and you can often learn a lot, especially when they get into bother and you see how they deal with the problem.have a great day
