After being told there's an 18 week wait just to get on the ENT waiting list, I'm considering going down the private health care list.

Has anyone got it and would recommend a particular provider or do I just get some quotes and take pot luck ?

Unfortunately, BM is right, as if you are looking at private healthcare on an individual basis, you will either have to be medical underwritten (where you will pretty much have to declare your entire medical history) or go through (usually) a 5 year moratorium (so if you have had signs, symptoms or advice on anything in that period, you can't clam for it for a designated period of time starting from the plan inception date) - obtaining any individual plan that offers you medical history disregarded cover is nigh on impossible.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings (I am one of the lucky ones that has cover through work)

If you’re looking at health insurance covering pre-existing conditions it is expensive. However, if you go to a specific consultant for a one off, your GP will almost certainly have a list he’s happy to recommend.
