Does anyone have any experience of this? does it actually work well?

I need internet connection in spare bedroom for Xbox, but router is downstairs and I want to hardwire rather than wireless... but don't particularly want a massively long cable winding it's way through the house......

cheers

Wireless should provide adequate bandwidth but have you considered running a cat 5 cable outside the house and into the loft space and down into the bedroom? Could be hell of a lot easier and could still look neat outside especially if you have similar cable runs for telephone or satellite. Needs to be externally rated cat 5 cable though.

Tp link home plug kits are great. I set up a kit of 4 devices to provide lan and wireless connectivity across my bosses huge house and its been working perfectly. I use netgear plugs in my home also and have no complaints neither. The days of running cat 5e cable across the house are gone.

I have one set up for my PS3/Sky box as for some reason I could not connect the PS3 to the BT router through wireless. Plus I have thick walls so the signal is not the best. Mine are Solwise homeplugs, can't remember where I got them from but they were not expensive. Works a treat to be honest, go for it.

The only thing to be wary of with these is with older houses. You need to keep on the same ring main, so if you are going from say an old part of your house to a new bit, it might not work. I live in a new build, so have paper thin walls and same ring, so all good here.

I use one, the only downside on my one (a netgear one) is it doesnt mimic the SSID, so i have 2 SSID's. one for indoor and one for my office (in the garage!)

these ones do, set it up the same as your wifi security and your lappy./ phone /ipad connect to the strongest signal as you move about the house.

:)

Works on a different ring main in my house :mmm:
