Bought a golf trolley about 18 months ago. It came with a lead-acid battery so I thought I'd just see it out and upgrade the battery once it started failing.

It has now started failing so was looking to purchase a Lithium rechargeable. The company I bought it from (OffmeTrolley) are out of stock at the moment

Does anyone know if I can just buy any old Lithium battery and unscrew the terminals then attach the lead, which is a 3-pin aviation connection, to the new battery (see attached pic that maybe shows my explanation a bit better)? Looked online and you may be able to remove the T-bar or Torberry connector but I'm unsure if the battery would actually work on the trolley.

Don't want to spend about £150 if it's not going to work.

Any recommendations of where to buy one if this is possible?

Yes. Just unscrew the leads from the old battery and swap them onto the new battery, after removing the lead thats on the new one. Just make sure the colours connected to match:)

Had the exact same trolley also had to replace battery after a year, go for a LifePo4 battery they are the better ones

The 18 hole ones are a little cheaper
That's good news. Did you buy that same one? I see it has a T bar to 3 pin adapter as well, which means no DIY.

I can get a cheaper one without the lead but the lead's only £10. Not sure whether to save £30 and do the DIY.

Not the exact one but same lifePo4 type, I was thinking along the same lines with the diy but to lessen issues I just paid a little more, a guy in golf trolley works said to make sure everything is compatible but I should just buy the one with the kit

Great. Will just spend the extra £30. Cheers

Is the charger for the lead battery compatible with the new lithium one?
I thought there was a difference.
Or do you get a new charger with this,.

No the chargers are different you charge from the side of the battery rather than the tbar, its a separate port on the side of the battery just for charging

My battery’s on the way out, barely making 16 holes properly now. Looked at the links above, was not expecting £150+!!

My current battery is the normal sort that looks a bit like a slimline car battery, previously paid £60-70 for them. What’s the difference between the standard batteries and those in the links above?

Lithium batteries are rated to give a deeper reserve of power as the battery runs lower, charges faster, zero maintenance really compared to lead acid, work better in a wider range of temperatures and usually have a far longer warranty.

In simple terms, a lead acid battery will lose performance as it loses charge whereas a lithium battery gives more or less full performance up until it cannot then just stops.

^ sorry for the mini hijack. I think I have the battery from post 5. I keep chickening out and charging it after 18 holes. I ought to give it a 36 hole run soon, but should a battery run out with a couple of holes to go are there things you are supposed to do? Think I recall someone saying disengaging the motor or similar.

^ partly answered, had a day off today and a chance to play opened up, so thought this is a chance to test. It died with 130 to go on the 18th! The course I'm playing at is known for a tough walk - I tell guests to expect to walk circa "21 holes worth". So I'd be pretty confident of 36 at a regular place.

Would that explain why a 36 hole lithium battery has a lower Ah rating that a 36 hole lead acid battery, asks a man currently looking at trolley batteries... ;)

My powakaddy gave up so I bought this rather than spend £200 plus on a replacement.
I just need to make some adjustments to the battery tray but hopefully Velcro will do the job nicely

That's the one I replaced the lead acid 9ne with almost two years ago. Still going strong.
However the company I bought it from (via eBay) had a picture showing what you got including all the correct leads but when it arrived it was missing the exact lead I needed. I contacted the seller and he said that there was small print explaining that what you got was not in the picture and I needed to spend another £20 to get the lead.
I pointed out that the small print didn't have any such explanation so he relented and sent the correct lead.
Might be worth checking it has definitely got the connectors you're after.
