New here and trying to create my first thread (about society handicap management systems) and being told that I am either spamming or posting inappropriate content, neither of which are remotely the case.

Is this a "naughty step" for new members or are there words that one simply has to avoid?

For clarity, I tried to write to the administrator but was unable to as the system decided that I was posting spam or inappropriate content. Seems like a broader issue is at play here!

If you have a read of the above guidelines and stay within the framework you should be fine.

Not sure what you are trying to post, but certainly advertising is prohibited.

I did and I cannot see anything that clarifies the issue. No advertising, literally asking for help and advice on finding a new society handicap management system!

Maybe if you try posting on other peoples threads first, that might help
I actually tried various searches here (society software, handicap management software, society app, handicap app, group scorecards and many others!) and couldn't find anything in the first 5 pages of results.

If you hace any specific suggestions, they would be hugely appreciated.

I meant any thread.
Maybe give your opinion on The Open or the football thread, or your favourite film etc.
Spammers don't normally join in

So, basically, joining a forum because you have a specific question is now "spamming"?!

And people wonder why the world of golf struggles to shake off its insular and stuffy tags 🤦🏼‍♂️

OK, I will go and post in some random threads to somehow build some kind of colateral that may apparently lead to me actually gettingy question answered! 😂

You asked me for any specific suggestions so I gave you a suggestion.
If you choose to ignore it, that's no skin off my nose.
You've only posted in 3 threads, all of which youve started yourself, that's not joining in, in my opinion

Thanks for the advice, although it seems that the wrong side of the bed was found during the dismount today, huh?! 😛

I have been off and posted a few things, just to give credence to my huge desire to spend my life here, but it did make me wonder...

What about my post appeared to be spamming? I mean, would anybody reading it assume that it was spam or a genuine request for people with much more knowledge and experience than me to offer their opinions? I spend my time on golf courses being offered a relentless stream of advice, but directly asking for it here seems in some way "inappropriate".

Maybe I just found the wrong forum for me. I will see how things develop.

Which Forum did you try to post in?

Just to clarify @Lord Tyrion comment above, there are times that moderators and admin identify spammers and act accordingly, but I agree this does not seem to be one of those times. So it does seem to be that your early attempts at posting were automatically weeded out by software we have no understanding of.

I may have misunderstood one or two responses here, which I initially thought were suggestions along the lines of posting generally elsewhere may indicate to the software that your account is not spamming the forum.

Regardless, it seems your query has now been successfully posted and I hope you get lots of helpful responses.

No idea why your posts are being defined as spamming. It will be something in the software/algorithm/magic space dust 🤷.

It is not being decided by anyone manually.
Hilarious... A double post in a discussion about spamming! 😂 #irony

Joking aside, I agree entirely. I was just getting a pop-up when pressing post. It seems that breaking it up into smaller pieces solved the issue, which appears to be that a list of features (that I am looking for) were being mistakenly construed as a list of features that I was selling!

All agreed and thank you for the very kind welcome and wishes ☺️
