Squeezed into the 2nd round of the club championships for the first time ever. Shot net 76 (+6) yesterday which included a triple bogey on the 1st and a five over par 9 on the 14th.

Went out today and have set a personal bst score at the new Royal Ascot course. 77 gross, net 66 (-4) to fiish + overall and 6th place.

Stupi thing was I swung the club like a fool and was fighting it all round. It was ropey off the tee but I found a way of getting it round and avoided any big numbers.

I managed to birdie the 9th and 11th and had a huge bit of fortune on 18 when the drive went right towards the OB hit a tree and came back in. Managed to make a 5.

CSS was up to 73 and so got a massive cut and now off 9.8 so my 2012 target of 10 reached and single figures so close.

Really stupid how you can swing so badly and score so well and yet I hit it better yesterday and had a mare. I as never going to beat the winning score (130) but a top 3 was there and was only 138 compared to my 142. I had a storming back 9 today so would have strolled it on countback too.

Mega chuffed and gutted in equal measure. This time last year I'd have been made up to shoot that score. However I'd sort of hit the ball properly and make a score than fight it all the way round and not feel like I hit a solid shot. Maybe I'm gettng greedy or maybe I'm getting better.

Well played Homer. Sounds like you've turned a corner this year. And you must certainly be seeing your potential for the rest of the year.

Not greedy Homer just Driven to achieve what you new you could do....
Thats great shootin....Well done:thup:

I finished 2 under this morning with a decent round also....Like you i always see the shots that got away but im improving in the right direction.....
Iv set a target of 12 for myself by the end of the season and to be honest im well capable of playing to it so keep it going Pal.....

Well done Homer it's not how, it's how many that counts.

Had plenty of days when I've not hit the ball well but scored decently , likewise hit the ball well but not scored.
Well done Chap.

Revised plan is to try and win the 36 hole Masters in September. Its an invite only event for competition winners over the last 12 months. Two rounds of medal play on the one day. Plan to be off 9 by the time I peg it up

Well done H

As Imurg said, sometimes it happens that you make a score hitting it badly. It should just give you the knowledge that a better score is there to be had when you start hitting it nicely as well :)

Well done Homer such a good performance,6th place is very good.
At last im reading a post thats nearly 100% positive.
Good luck on your quest for single figures, remember its all in the short game.

It's a credit to the work you put in that you can shoot that score swinging poorly mate. My own tale of swinging poorly had a very different result yesterday. Keep up the good work, you'll be in single figures in no time.

focus on the positives, good score, cut and getting into club champ 2nd round for the first time ever!

Don't give the negative demons space in your head! they like it there and will surface when you dont want them.

Back out working on it tonight. Hit it better than during the 2nd round yesterday so feel I'm turning a corner again and got a lesson on Friday so feel like I'm right on the cusp of single figures and some good scores
