Play through? Ryder cup?

A foursome game much faster than a fourball game (2 ball v 4 ball). Perfectly right to let them through (theyd have gone out first if hadnt been last finishing this am)

I think it had to do with the order the players finished. You have to give them a modicum of rest and time for a quick snack and so it was the best way of doing it. I guess the leading fourball will be held back somewhere and let each of the foursomes through in due course

Typical, the new guys to golf cant understand this calling through stuff.
Just goes to show, if people dont see it on TV they won't do it.
In pro tours they dont use the call through, even in the case of a lost ball. (beats me how pro's lose balls with all the people around the course) anyway.
If your slower than the guys infront, you call the guys behind through. To make it simple, if you lose ground (ie, a hole or more) you wave the guys behind through.............. It's not rocket sicence!

Don't get me started Ian, today on the course, we were out behind a 4ball (betterball 3/4 h/cap stroke, which makes it worse!) who had a blank tee time in front of them (rain yesterday probably put some off). We were playing fairly well but having to wait for every shot was soul destroying, they just were not looking back and realising they were slow, never mind playing all four balls out regardless of score.
Stood on the 14th we decided just to hang back a touch (fourball behind had done the same) and try to make the best score we could, I finished birdie birdie birdie for a gross 72 (+1) and my partner and I ended up with a net 63. Im glad we finished well as it made things a little more bearable.

Back on topic though, doesnt matter what level, if you are slow, let the guys behind through, they will think more of you for doing so rather than pi$$ing them off.

Yep, same happened to me, The 4ball infront lost 2 holes and didn't care how slow they were. They have been spoken to before and their answer was, 4 hours for a round of golf isn't to bad. BULLSHIT>

The fourball in front of us had lost a hole by the 8th tee. I gave them a gentle nudge and they seemed to speed up after that which begs the question, why the fcuk were they so slow for the 1st 7 holes?

One of the guys infront of us yesterday plays off 14 (I think) He hit his drive about 180yrds on 10th fairway. He looked at what was left, then took a club from his bag, then stood behind the ball for ages lineing up the shot. Not in a goat in hells chance had he anychance of reaching the green, all he was doing was picking a spot down the fairway to hit to. I wont swear, but please what the hell was he looking at? he had a 40yrd wide fairway to hit to. He hit it we watched in amazement! the bloody thing flew right angles. Now Please I would love to ask him but seeing as he is a man of the cloth, I will let him off with it! Was he saying a prayer?
I blame TV.

Lol Ian, sounds like fun, at least you could laugh at the sideways action!
Just in from our Sunday comps that started today, gross 70 (l,c&p obviously) waited the whole way round again today. I'm starting to like this slow pace if it helps with my scores, haha selfish or what!
