Planned Sunningdale trip cancelled......

Gutted smiffy, i was looking forward to that aswell.

If you want to organise a different venue of the same quality then i'm still up for travelling down.

Keep us informed mate.

Seriously disappointing, and can;t quite believe that they want to disappoint one of the major golf mags :( ?

not totally convinced by 27 hoels - the big splurge was fine if it was both courses.

thanks for your efforts smiffy, i know trying to get the masses in the same (posh) place at teh same time is a nightmare

But they are not, they are disappointing a few golfers. The magazine never organised it.

Looking at "alternatives" I see that Woburn are offering some rates for golf during March/April that seem quite attractive.
I'm quite happy to email the club to see what they could offer for around that time.
The only problem I forsee is that most clubs will be hollow tining their greens at the end of March. I had completely forgotten this when I made the initial enquiry, and whilst the chance to play a really decent course is attractive, I would hate to spend out the best part of £200.00 to go and play a course where putting would be a lottery.
I know we have the Woodhall Spa trip planned for April, but according to the Woburn website, (unless I am reading it incorrectly), we could get a days golf there, playing two courses and including a light lunch for around £150.00 during that month. Any course works (hollow tining) should be out of the way by then. Don't know if as many would be interested but I'm quite happy to set the wheels in motion by emailing an enquiry???

I'm not involved so my opinion may be worthless, but I thought the greens at Blackmoor were awesome when we played there and they'd just been tined so for a quality course I wouldn't be worried about it.

Cheers for letting us know Bob, shame really as i fancied losing a few balls there...
Anyone a member of courses nearby that fancies a knock over the couple of days i have booked at the Travelodge nearby? Maybe we can all arrange a little meet at different courses if some folks have pre booked accomodation and have an early GM meet for 2012?
Oooops!!! didnt read all of the above posts and can see its `in hand`... :p
