ping s56 irons look lush!

Interesting Thread......

Looking at all the replies it seems that the S56's cater for a range of handicaps outside of the players that there supposed to geared at judging from peoples Sig's .....

Do the words Wilson FG Tour, Pot, Kettle and black mean anything to you!? ;) :p

Lots Redwood......haha :D :D :D
Kinda wish i had been a little bit more patient with them now :o

And there actually still in the shop that i traded them into funilly enough.......I wont give in, I wont give into the precious

I'm sure mine will go the same way shortly (why I'm keeping hold of my i5's), but nothing ventured....

Exactly my thoughts Redwood......
You'll always wonder unless you take the plunge :D ;)

I like the S56 but I really don't know if they would be for me. I've hit the I15 and know I can hit them. The S56 I tried had stiff shafts which probably didn't help so I want to go back and try them in regular.

How could you possibly play your G10's after picking these up, Westy? I couldn't even bring myself to play my i5's!! :)

What shafts did you go for?

I just don't want to risk the change at such a critical time. I won't have had much time to get used to them, even though I hit them really well on the range tonight.

It's just not worth the risk, I need a good safe and steady round.

I went with the Dynamic Gold S300's. Standard Lie and 1.5 upright.

Nice clubs, good luck with them - AFTER the OOM.

I probably don't need to tell you this - but just in case.

My mate was in the same situation as you in the OOM 2 years ago, with 5 points between him and 2nd place. He just played his own usual steady game. Whereas the other guy kept asking during his round, how my mate was doing.
Needless to say, you can probably guess the outcome. :)

Golfmmad.

Thanks Golfmad. That's the plan. I'm just going to go play and see what happens. It's how I got into this position, just played my game and the points kept coming.

There are only 3 other people that can overtake me and they are all out after me, so in some ways the pressure is off.

Even if I fail to score, 2nd place has to get a top 10 finish and the other 2 I think have to win it.

My money's on you Westy.

Good luck, and do let us know how it goes.

I like the S56 but I really don't know if they would be for me.

I've heard that Ping have given birth to the goose that lays the golden eggs with the S56 irons.

They look and feel like a players iron, but knock a lot of so-called GI irons into a cocked hat.

Having said that, my pro wants me to stop messing around with two sets as it is!

If I had the money....if I had the talent....je ne regrette rien.

You know you want the precious Dave...... :D :D :D :D

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be the blade (cavity?) that was broken,
The crownless again shall be Ping.

Read that closely. I'm sure I can read the word Ping in there. Tolkien eh? what a laugh that bloke must have been. :) :D :D

I found myself waisting some time in a club pro shop today and they had an S56 6 iron.

This truly is the best looking club I have ever held in my hands, I was just stunned by it.

I got chatting with the boy in there, no idea if he was a junior pro or just a guy looking after the shop and he told me that they are very hard to hit. I told him that I know of a guy (Redwood) who was a high handicap and had a set and said they played great. Is that still the case Redwood? you hitting them ok.

Anyways old post but had to say once again how stunning this club is.
