Hi All,

After 6 weeks of trying to get to grips with my MP 63 irons, I accepted defeat, sold them, and after fitting, have just picked up my new Ping i20's. I've played golf for nearly 30 years and have never owned a Ping club before (always thought they were chunky and never looked right), but these irons are fantastic.
Easier to hit, higher flight, longer carry, more forgiving, I couldn't ask for anything else. Also, looks wise, not as nice as the Mizuno's, but far nicer looking than what I expected
Only problem is, now that I'm a Ping player, does this make me an old fart?

It makes you a sensible man who quite clearly knows quality.

Ping are bang on the money these days in my opinion.

No, it just means your taste has improved with age. :)
I tried the i20 irons at a demo day recently and I think they are the best irons Ping have made for a long time.
I hope you enjoy them and they help you get down to a proper handicap soon ;)

I've not hit them but they are certainly alot more appealing then other Ping clubs that I've picked up in the shop and waggled over the years.

I preferred the i15s, looks wise. Not sure why. It might be that the cavity in the i20 looks a bit busy.

Given the budget, I prefer the ansers, except the 4 and 3i, which have something sticking out the back which is visible at address.

Hope you enjoy them.

I also think they are the nicest Ping irons they have ever done, I seriously would have swapped my beautiful MP69's for a set but Ping have no foresight in securing a Mizuno blade player.

Friends who have bought are all getting about 10 yds more distance, I suppose because its cast and GI.
The 3 iron in particular just looks like you cant miss with it, easy peasy golf

Petrlav, you're off 6 and you couldnt hit the mp63's:confused:

Aye, thats right, just couldn't hit the 63's 6 iron and lower as consistently as I would have liked. Felt amazing in the shorter irons, and looked beautiful, I just need a wee bit of help now and again!

As soon as i tried my Pings i knew they were the ones :) They look chunky but im not really bothered how they look, i would quite happily play with a slab of wood with a tin of beans on the end if it worked :fore:

Ive not tried the i20s but i can imagine they are sweet.

Yep, i20 was a good move for Ping in my opinion. Ugly cavity graphics but when you stand over them they look great. Nice to see a proper(traditional) hosel on them too. I think the S56 are the best looking Ping I have seen but I would think not as forgiving.

@OP what else did your try? Did MP 53 or JPX Pro not tickle your fancy?

And yes it makes you an old fart, but only on the GM forum, I think its unique to us... we are a funny bunch!!:o

I play the G15 Irons and yes they are not the most pleasing on the eye club to look at but the performance is not in doubt. I am a much better player now then when I bought them and if in the market to swap then the I20's would definitely be in the running not hit them yet though which will be rectified when I get back home for the summer.

Having swapped a set of MP 53's for a set of i15's i'm with you. I think they look great and exude confidence...even the 3 iron.

just wondering if the i20 are worth upgrading to from the i15s.

Old Fart...no just a discerning and intelligent golfer who is not sucked in by brand snobbery!

Having just tested a set of I20's at the range, all I can say is....Wow.... They were a consistant 1 club longer than my 800 Pro's, with less movement in flight and slightly more forgiving. My only concern was the fact that they launched quite high compared to the Mizzies. I am seriously tempted though. All I need now is confirmation that my job is safe for a couple more years and i'm in like flynn...

No, it makes you a 'game improver'

Real men use blades and they don't worry about thinning one on a cold frosty morning cos they are hard as nails ;)

Is it fair to say the i20's have moved away from the "only for good golfers" image? They are top of my list to try out and possibly purchase but being a 17 handicapper I'm worried I won't be able to hit the things.

They are ridiculously easy to hit. would class them as a game improver iron. Similar topline to the 800 pros. Try them out, you'll love em..

I tried the i15's about a year ago and really liked htem, they were a close second of all the irons i tried but went with the Mizzys.

I imagine the i20's are also great and look a lot nicer so Im thinking dont try them out....temptation sets in....not good !!

I could be selling my g20's soon, I just cant get on with them. I know I'm not a decent player yet but compared to my old hippo clubs these are like looking down at, and swinging half bricks! I've had one good round with them since I bought them last autumn.

In comparison to my G10's?

I haven't hit the G10's but I doubt that these are harder to use. I've hit the G20's (briefly) and these are just as easy, but much nicer to look down on. My ball striking isn't the best at the moment (as Homer, Sev, Spiral, Pieman and Aztec will confirm), but after a few shots these were consistantly long and straight..
