Just had a smack with the new anser driver from Ping and had a look at the fairways and hybrid offerings.

I could be after a new fairway and hybrid as you won't find nicer on the market, especially the hybrid, its just sex on a stick. Sits and looks amazing to me. Certainly a must buy! WOW. The fairways are also dam fine looking and I'd certainly be interested in comparing it to my current R11 baby.

Driver was nice but not as nice looking as my training shoe.

Have you tried the I20s? I ask as I am interested in your opinion of them in comparison? Ping are getting better looking to me every year. Anser are not cheep though..

Not much between the i20 driver and Anser driver from what I could see but the fairways and especially the hybrids are amazing looking, certainly to my eye they are fantastic looking. There will be an anser hybrid in my bag by the end of the September.

Did you hit stock shafts? Will you get them in stock shafts?

I noticed at the driving range today that ping are going to be along on the 30th August with the anser range. Might go for a wee look.

Given that you can only change the loft by 1/2 a degree is it worth the dosh......and would a 1/2 degree not be within the manufacturing tolerances anyway.....so you could be buying a driver that says its a 9 but actually a 10 or an 8? Unless its been measured up I don't trust what it says on the tin...!

Is there much difference between the Anser and i20?

It was the standard Ping TFC shaft that I tried. Hybrid wise that will probably work well enough for me. 83g 2.8 torque.

There is a difference.

Put them side by side and you'll see. They certainly fitted my eye better than the i20.

Just watched Mark Crossfield Ping Anser Driver / Fairway video reviews
He seems impressed........

Hoping some local to me this week
Still not sure on my current 3 wood..............

and out again by December no doubt (smile)

Tried it this afternoon with TFC shaft and the Diamana 'ihina shaft. It sits very nicely, not toed in. The 'ihana sent it out a bit low for me but I did like the feel and sound... not sure it did enough extra to convince me to change.

Seen the anser range and everything including the irons and hybrid look great. I dont think Ping make bad clubs. Granted they are marmite and some dont like the head shapes (irons) but they have come a long way in the driver and fairway market and offer some seriously solid and functional gear.

Out of interest how much are the hybrids? The shafts are real not made for so I am thinking they are going to be ££££
