Watched a bit of this today on and off, pretty dire stuff really. All the contenders playing pants.
What's gone wrong, is the course too hard now?
Simon Khan winning the flagship event on the European Tour is nice for him but not a great success for the tournament given the depth of the field who started on Thursday, is it? :D

100% 'nuff said. :)

He didn't win it more had it presented to him on a big plate with bows an ribbons. He had a great last round but if any of the top half dozen had posted a reasonable score then it would have been a different story. I can understand Danny Willett and to a degree Chris Wood (although I'd have thought his Open experience would have helped) struggling to cope in the final round of the flagship event but not Casey and Donald etc

I wouldn't say it was given to him Homer, not in this case. The guy shot 66 when everyone else was shooting 72+.
Less pressure and getting in there early probably helped.
Every one of them had to contend with the new 18th etc and he was the best through the hardest part of the course.
Well do, nice to see a guy who was no stranger of Q school and sponsor invitations do well.

You have to say though Donald only needed a birdie on either of the 2 par 5's 17 an 18. If a seasoned Pro like him can't do that then its a pretty poor show imo.

Apart from Khan there wasn't much else to shout about.

I agree Donald needed to finish with pars at worst, birdie was easily available on the 18th too but his driving went awol. Willet's driving was something else, long AND straight, the rest of his game was lacking though, his wedge play reminded me of myself! He may have been on a bad tday with the short clubs though, Ive never see him play before apart from Walker Cup.

I didn't see any on TV today as I was there and as always with any sporting event, much better live.

I don't see anything at all wrong with Simon Khan winning or anybody else for that matter, good luck to him, he played the best when needed. I don't get this, big names should win all the time, that would be boring.

The bunkers caught a lot of players out, they're cavernous, and at times you couldn't see the player when standing in them. When caught in one there wasn't much chance of getting on the green in regulation. It's easy to say, then don't go in them, but all are strategically placed with plenty of run off into them. This may sound as if I'm making excuses but just giving reasons why I think it's a lot harder now.

Despite what has been said about the 18th I think it's a far more challenging and interesting hole than before. Wasn't it supposed to make it more dramatic? Well it couldn't have been more dramatic than Donalds approach for an eagle to win it - and he very nearly did!

I don't suppose all will agree, but it's a case of being there and seeing is believing. :)

Golfmmad.

Only thing i enjoyed was watching Danny willet. He can play some serious golf but its a shame the pressure got to him late on!

At Walton heath with the pressure off, the guy was a birdie machine and played the par 3's like I do on the xbox.

Just goes to show what a bit of pressure can do to the pros aswell as the mortals!
