First medal today although non q as still down one hole. My PP didn't turn up. She's obviously DQ but I couldn't join anyone else until the last group over two hours later and couldn't do it as have to be somewhere else:angry: Ended up playing the back nine on my own with my new shineys. Got home and realised I've left my handbag in my locker so have got to go back to get it:angry:

I'd be peed off too. I find it annoying enough when people put their names down to play and then pull out at the last minute but to just not turn up is really not on.

Had she phoned the pro to let him know she wasn't going to make it? Id be peed off too. Unless shes got a v good excuse she should be banned for a few comps for that.

Two weeks ago was our Captain vs Vice-Captains team match......participants drawn from a list of people who put names down and then 4BBB format. Owing to the numbers I was drawn to play in a 2 ball match last out. Arrived to find opponent had 'called off' by phoning the pro an hour earlier.

I had driven 25 miles to be there - not happy!

She'd not phoned the Pro shop. I phoned her home from there to be told she'd gone to golf. Hope nothing has happened on the way in but was also told she'd got her tee time wrong by an hour the week before but was early then. Not sure if they do ban for no shows or late pull outs but I know I would if I was running the comps. Also seems silly that I couldn't join an earlier two ball and play as a three even if I went out just before the mid morning buffer zone.

Wereditgo- I would be livid if that happened to me. Hope he was banned. At least I'm only 5 minutes ish drive away.

Positives were that I did play some good golf today even if it didn't count for anything. I even got on the green on the 17th with my tee shot!

Was it all 3 balls?

That's pretty harsh!

No warning? Would that have applied to any that were (equivalently) stuck on the M26 yesterday?

Same with us, everyone has plenty of warning as it is written in the fixture book and explained in person when you join. Firm but fair I think rather than harsh and def for everyones benefit.

And they wouldn't let you make up a three!?

They weren't allowed to. Competitions/handicap lady said no and that my only option was to go out right at the end and either join the last two ball or if my PP arrived and was willing to wait to go out after the last two and my PP would mark my card but obviously not play in the comp. Seems ridiculous to me but who knows:confused:

She sounds a right jobs worth! Stopping a 4 ball amongst a comp I understand but a three ball!! Nonsense!

To be honest the real reason you didn't get a game was the inflexibility of the organisers. No idea what happened to your PP but things happen in life and people miss commitments, but for the organisers to not let you make up a three ball was ridiculous. Such is golf!

Two-balls in Club competitions are pretty dodgy.

3-Balls make a lot more sense. Much less chance of either collusion or a strong personality pushing the PP/Marker into a 'favourable' decision! They do take quite a bit longer than 2-balls though - closer to 4-ball speed than 2-ball in my experience.
