Panorama: Undercover Care: The Abuse Exposed

This is not isolated.

We should never have allowed health care to be privatised for the elderly & disabled.

I agree. There are some things that can't be trusted in the hands of the private mob. The real problem is the layers of systematic conspiracy of silence. Someone working there must have known but didn't feel they could do anything for fear.

I'm surprised the owners of this massive organisation (Castlebeck) can even keep their website up today.

Castlebeck made a £31.3m profit on £85.2m revenues in the year to December 2009.
Is there money in this sort of thing?
Is the profit margin so small you need to employ the lowest of the low?
I think the answers and the problems are self-evident. :(

I manage a disability service for a not for profit organisation we are getting less and less referals because of these large profit based companys that offer "value for money"

Whenever we tender for a new service from a local authority they base there decisions on 70% value for money 30& quality of care it's no wonder we end up with a service like this.
