Over Critical

Ive only been playing for just under a year now and weather permitting still play twice a week.Last wk i made 6pars and 3 birdies with the rest bein ruined because of silly shots and feel i should be hitting the majority of balls straight.I got round a few weeks ago 23over par.Am i being too critcal??

I'd suggest you get 3 cards in (dont be shy) and then enjoy the challenge of beating your handicap

If that is what you are going round in then that is your handicap. Remember when you start playing comps next summer you will be of the white tees. If it is like my club then some holes that could 40-50 yards. That will make a difference to your score. A mate of mine only joined the club this year having never really palyed. Put his cards in and got given a 25 handicap. Thing is the bloody bandit will get cut next year. People have him playing off 18 as 25 is too much. He is in a similar situation to you. He does make quite a few pars and the odd birdie but will still have the odd 7 or 8.

Embarrassed ? How ? I have a 23 handicap and I'm not embarssed whatsoever, and have no idea why anyone who hands a Cardin which is 23 over should be

I wouldn't worry about it i've put loads of cards in this year over +23....
