Around Suffolk, it seems to be the norm that every other tee has a metal dog bowl for water, some even leave a big plastic container full of water for top ups

Our Chairman walks his dog on a lead so I guess we'd be OK with it but can't say for definite.
Slightly off topic but played Queens Park in Bournemouth recently and it was quite simply daft. I think that there were more dogs than golfers out there and many of them (the dogs
)not being supervised properly.
Now I know what the policy is there and course ownership position etc. but it was simply bonkers (from a golfer's point of view). I'm amazed walkers and dogs are not regularly brained by errant balls as the walkers seem oblivious to the dangers, both to themselves and their dogs.
I would never go back there again which is a shame because the course has a long history and, minus the canines, isn't a bad track at all.

A couple of members at ours take their dogs out on leads regularly. No issue with that, it is walkers who let their pooches off the lead allowing them to dump in the middle of the fairway that hacks me off!

I'm not a dog fan - I'd ban them completely never mind just on golf courses!
I'd maybe have a different view if they were kept under control and didn't piss or poo everywhere but too many owners don't seem to think that's important...

I guess so. I'm a bit better now but for a long time I was literally afraid of them.
easy solution....... get a dog.
i was the same for years, all though my cycling days i was petrified of dogs..
getting one changed my life

I overcame my fear when my hillwalking pals got a German shepherd that joined us for many munros.
However, I'm also allergic so no chance I'll ever own one.

What a coincidence, I am also allergic to Munros and have no plans to own one!

Not allowed at our place. We took Barley to Gt Yarmouth where they are allowed - never again! Luckily the course was quiet as all his training went out of the window. 1st hole I told him to sit and stay whilst I putted - he shot onto the green and ran off with my ball. Every time either of us took a shot he barked and tried to chase the ball. It was exhausting as one of us had to hold him whilst the other played and then swap - fine if your balls are next to each other...one time I let him go thinking he'd behave and go back to David but no he was off chasing around barking his head off. The 13th is close to the clubhouse so we quit the round. The pro thought he was a beauty (he is!) and offered to look after him when we played the following day which was very nice of him. Barley isn't great with strangers though so we declined and have never tried again!!

They are not allowed on our course. AGM agenda many years ago and the vote against allowing them was virtually unanimous.
We do have some land (owned by us) next to the course which A lot of dog walkers treat it as common land and we had to have a real go at one dog walker, including involving the police, after his dog regularly started to chase the golfers. We have had to have words with a few about deliberately bringing their dogs on to the course.

We do actually have a policy. Dogs allowed on a lead and you must clear up after them if they manage a No.2 (which is as it should be). No.1s obviously can't be dealt with but l seriously suspect the gentlemen members are more of problem in that respect.
Have to say that although they are allowed, only a handful of members ever bring their dog along.

Me too,never be without one now......as North Mimms said dogs on courses seem to be the norm here in Suffolk,I cant think of a course where dogs arnt allowed,but i'm sure somebody will put me right
