one for Guitar fans

I was a big fan until 84 when treasure came out, which i didn't like, didn't really listen to them again until Blue bell knoll came out as the girl i was with at the time was really into them, where as i had gone more jangley indie by then. 60's influence and had my first Rickenbacker 12 string.

'First' Rickenbacker 12 string??!! Envious:D

Will delve deeper into their back catelogue over the coming weeks...

only trouble was, then had to go and buy a transistor amp as though the fender twin it messed with the harmonics and sounded weird. So had to buy a Roland JC120. The Ricky was one of the ones that you could pull a comb down and it could be switched from 6 to 12 strings and back again. I don't think Rickenbacker was sold in the UK again until the 90's and you could not get an old one cheap, except the version i had, and that was only as is didn't really work so they were not very sought after, diff story now though.

Interesting..

Never tried a Ricky, kind of a bucket list thing really. Might try one of the basses one day to see if that Mani sound is readily achievable. More my speed these days.

last band i was in in the early 90's the bassist had a Rickenbacker 4003 and a fender precision and they sounded the same to me, those are the only bases ive ever played

I naively planned to buy a 4003 and give it the Jackson Pollock splattered look - then I saw the price. Suffice to say that plan is on hold.. Beautiful instruments with a tremendous full sound. Can't really beat a precision though, Fender just got it so right all those years ago.

Tried loads over the years and the sound I like is always very bass frequency heavy (my amp always has the sub-frequency button engaged) so I make everything sounds exactly the same. I'm definately a bass philistine but folks say it works fine for what I do. Often use a cheap electric upright now, which with a longer scale goes even lower :D
