I'm currently off 24, but am in no doubt that I will be sub 20 by the end of the summer. I already play around 9 holes to par each time, its just a case of ironing out those double and tripple bogeys which are a result of pure inconsistency. However practice should eliminate this. I play with one guy who is off 15 and my good shots are miles better than his, its just he never plays a bad shot!

In order to prepare for the season I have joined my first golf club, and am also looking to get custom fitted for a set of irons before the start of the real summer months.

Here's to the New Season and the joys that await!

Well I'm off a steady 12.1 currently and if I could get my 3 wood working it may drop to 10!! Short game saves me most of the time.
if I can get down to 8 - where I was 5 years ago (3 knee ops and a broken ankle is my excuse!!) then club champion is a possibility but I'm happy to pull in the medals.

Played 10 holes today, 9 pars and the usual double!!!

Hit it quite solidly but the greens were cr@p. Just hollowed and sanded again due to the amount of rain lately.

Off of 5 and want to get to three by the end of the season.

As a 'Return-ee' I am looking to get familiar with all the modern gear now available!! Its not that I am so old, at 42 its just how quick the game has developed,
So just ordered a 460cc driver and a Rescue club to help my game catch up!!
Also really want to join and get involved with a good local club!

I'm off 13.0 at the moment and I am hoping to get down to single figures. Winter golf has been good and I have been using my head more to pick my shots rather than just brute force, ie taking 3 wood instead of driver so I leave a full shot in on shorter par 4s, play for position on par 5s instead of going for the green in two and finding trouble, but I have to practive bunker play more as I'm finding the softer sand at my club a bit of a problem at the moment.

But as long as I play more and enjoy it, then I will be happy.

Dropped from 14 to 11.4 last season, been working hard on my game over the winter, and eliminated one achilles heel buy using Callaway ft-i (driving accuracy now Scratch equivalent).
Hoping to get into single figures, hopefully off 8 by the end of the season.
Short game and putting is going to be the key for this season.

What are you off at the mo?
20.1

Have you prep'd for the season starting?
I use the course to practice.

What will do you hope to do to your cap in the first couple of months?
18ish

Do you think there is a champion inside just waiting to burst out?
Yes the key for me is to loose the slice and newly developed hook.

I am going to try and get my short game in order through practice on the range and my long game on the course. By the end of the season I want to be down to 15ish. I made a conscience decision last weekend to arrive early to fully warm up and relax before my round, I also want to spend a hour afterwards practicing as I don't have time during the week.

I gotta sort my Mental game out and course management. In the last few weeks I have turned into a HACKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not the computer type! So i got to start being sensible again And play out from behind the trees and not try and hit a 3wood through a gap big enough to fit a cricket ball through then over water with a 3 foot gap entering the green surrounded with bunkers!

Currently playing off 22. Winter practice has gone really well, I have cured my slice , so realistically looking to get down to 18 providing I can play enough Golf.

Please tell all, I have one aswell. When I slow down my swing its fine but try and tell my whole body that with a huge fairway ahead on a Par 5 when distance is important.

Well I'm off 28. Currently on the sick list. Have not played in over a month and just about to depart for a fortnight in the sun. So my hope is to regain some fitness get back to golf in a few weeks and gradually work down to my natural handicap level 20 - 24.

5.0 at mo, aim is to play off 2 by year end so maybe a bit unrealistic but gotta aim high. That means losing 2.6 shots. Every year I play to scratch a few times so I feel 2 is achievable but need to get consistent, that means better driving (slow down and stop whacking it!) and less 3 putts for me. Used to be a deadly chipper but that skill has gone downhill last couple of seasons, must practice that hard. Oh and of course take more club!
Pre-season has gone ok, had more practice than usual due to a softish winter so optimism is high. Just need to sharpen up the short game and ease off with the driver.

Someone should print off this post then resurrect it come November, see how good or bad we've all done!

Current cap - 5 (just went out0.1)

Prep - A fair bit but not as much as previous seasons, mostly working on posture and wedges.

Aims - 4 and make an impression on the scratch competitions. Cant see me being Champ, too many good golfers in my way.

when putting in more power i had a real bad slice, this was sorted in one of my lessons by adjusting my grip. I was told to bring my left thumb further round my club. This helped me square the club head on impact, creating a straighter shot. But this could be one of many reasons for a slice

Lads, its been done before but we are fast approaching the start of the season and I am asking you what your hopes and fears are for the coming season?

Hopes - Good health
Fears - an injury that keeps me off the golf course

What are you off at the mo?

I guess somewhere around 105 gross

Have you prep'd for the season starting?
As much as it's possible to while being out until recently with a badly busted toe. Does taking deep breaths count?
What will do you hope to do to your cap in the first couple of months?

Get one- 28, 36 , pi R squared - don't really mind - something anything

Do you think there is a champion inside just waiting to burst out?

The computer stats tell me there's a mid handicapper just fighting to get out - my clubs tell me not to be so bl@@dy ridiculous.

Computer?... Clubs? .....FIGHT!

Hope and real number one ambition is to get my health back. It's been 7 years with CFS and now I'm bored with it. I want to be able to live a normal life again.

golf wise, I'm presently off 13 and would love to get it down to single figures. I think it's realistic if I work on my putting and more consistency with my irons.

i have cured my slice by keeping over the ball until after the impact and accelerating the club more through the ball (preventing my block / slice)

Playing off 3.8 at the moment, but have just moved to a new club so not sure what will happen. I think the new course will suit me better, and in the 8 rounds I've played in practice this year I have yet to shoot over my handicap, so that looks promising.

I played yesterday and birdied the first 3 holes, so looking good. My driving is very good. Just need to improve from inside 100 yards and hole a few putts. Would be delighted to be under 3.0 by the end of the season.

Couple of goals. Improve my driving and putting stats from last year...and go a whole year without a score in the nineties. Had three last year and that's probably my record. Would like to get down to 7.
