On the tee!!

New ball but if i lose it so what. The worse thing about losing a brand new ball is knowing that the person that finds it has got a freebie.

Seeing as how i haven't bought a new ball in about 3 years I figure they haven't actually cost me anything so if I lose it it hasn't cost me anything and the likelihood is I'll find another to replace it anyway.....

If you have any worry about losing the ball switch it. you don't need that nagging doubt at the top of your back swing.

So it's competition day. You're on the first tee. It's a shot fraught with danger where a lost ball or an irretrievable OOB is a very real possibility. What do you tee up?

A brand new Pro V1 just out of the box or similar, or do you ease yourself in with something "nearly new" until you get properly into your rhythm.

Me? I'm option 2 all day long.;)

I'm guessing from this post that you are a high(ish) handicapper? With such a negative attitude you will never go low.......positive thinking my friend

New ball in every comp. Don't worry about the OB on our first (despite having found it several times lately). If you're worry about losing a new ball you're not thinking about the right things and setting yourself up to fail

Oh dear

This not meant to be too serious but more a bit of harmless fun, although I guess it does highlight peoples' mindset by player type.

I would certainly agree with the "be positive" advice and visualise the good shot always comments.

The Pro V1 mention was poetic licence as the only time I'll play one is when I find one to be honest. They don't suit my game, and I have heard that most amateurs except very low ones can't produce enough compression in their shot to reap the benefits of the intended performance characteristics.

@Drive4Show my handicap isn't highish neither is it lowish, it's in fact a middleish / respectableish 12
