I think a 'heated discussion' during a comp between two members, requiring a new member to 'get in between' is an odd situation?

Right so you could never play say 4 clubs back along the solid blue line in the direction it entered the trees, even if it was your 2nd shot from the fairway?

No

You could elect to take up to 2cl twice for 2 seperate penalty shots (but beware that when the ball bounces and rolls back the wrong way this cunning plan can backfire!)
