Just having a quick read about some of the sports that have had funding cuts. Am I missing something here.
Eg, badminton has met its target re medals expected, yet has had its funding cut altogether and failed in its appeal. Has as all sports bar one. So has the funding of sports gone political, if not what is happening.

Looks a simple business decision.

Cycling gets 30m and I'd imagine the return of medals will be in double figures.

Badminton may may get one medal and needs 3m?

Based purkey key in that I'd say choice was easy.

Papas has it right. The funding body got tough a few years ago. Deliver or face life as a genuine amateur. Badminton got one bronze out of Rio, as required. Maybe they looked at Tokyo and other sports could offer more than that going forward.

The system is delivering at Olympic level. It's ruthless but it's working. No sport has a right to be professional if it can't finance itself.

Totally agree as a cold hearted financial decision, but the deep down the corinthian in me still wants to see some of our athletes get a medal, totally unexpected against the odds. The chances of that happening are less and less and the Olympics is becoming 100% professional

Watching the BBC news and this cropped up. The bottom line was, " because of falling lottery ticket sales we have had to make tough decisions". Which I totally understand, but does that not then beg the question what has gone wrong at Camelot without stating the obvious.

I think it is the obvious - sheer greed it seems, double the ticket price and increase the odds of winning by introducing 10 new numbers, try and sell changes to Joe public using BS about this and that, result = fail.

Yup that's what I thought.

Yep, I haven't bought a ticket since they doubled the price, used to do a fiver a week for years before that.

Heard the Head of Sport UK saying that they only have enough to find "probable" medal sports and not "possible" ones
They looked at all the sports and who was likely to be competing and whether they were probable or possible.
Badminton was classed as possible so missed the cut....
They have to draw the line somewhere..

Huge black hole in NHS funding and social care... lets carry on funding minority sports. Tough choice?
Aren't they different pots of money?

NHS is funded by tax we are all paying (as well as Brexit savings :D ) while UK sports is funded by the lottery in which some of us are participating by choice. Lottery is also funding some arts and education, if I am not mistaken.

Think you'll find that the lottery is now owned by the canadian teachers pension plan. Absolute joke as they'll be extracting every penny from it they can. That's why prices have risen.

As for the athletes I don't think they can complain if they're not producing. If I don't produce at work I get the boot.

They're grand 
What size wheels do you have on your trolley?

Not sure, but I know I spent an hour cleaning me flippin trolley today. One thing I have noticed. Why have the wheels been designed with 1/4" gaps in the spokes and are hollow at the back they are a nightmare to clean.

edit, just had a quick measure 10" on a motocaddy S3. They best not buckle tomorrow coz as soon as ave smashed the course up am blasting over to Manchester to see City get battered by the frogs.

Is that highlighted bit a joke or for real.
