• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Ok, so we've had "what you like about the forum"

Like all forums this forum is limited to a specialist subject so there is bound to be repetition, if there wasn't surely it would come to a grinding halt?
If all everybody did was put a search in for teh (sorry typo error) subject and look for previous comments it would become very boring, and things do move on in gear technology.
Its interesting as well to see all those who want to be on single figures in 1 year of practice, I'm waiting for Tiger to make his big move.

People who click on "reply" but not on the posting they want to respond to. I have clicked on Bob's original posting but some posters click on any posting.

Oh and what's wrong with calling Smiffy a knob?
He is a knob and he knows it!! :D

this is true. I remember the first time I met him. There was a huddled, wizened, forlorn figure in the corner of the room, who gazed out through rheumy eyes, and said, as if at an AA meeting, "my name's Smiffy. and I'm a knob."

ps, what annoys me are bland assumptions that we are all alike, especially when applied to we higher handicappers.

please use a qualifier. some handicappers cannot hit a driver (me at present) but some are very good. some high handicappers can hit MP's, we do not all need super-ultra-mega GI or Ping.
I know, most, of my foibles - boiled down it's 'some days I'm rubbish'.

Agree with that, I can have good days and bad days as a higher handicapper. The good days see me cut, the bad days see the plus .1s. Mainly, however, I am a high handicapper because I play to my handicap, no more, no less so hit endless buffer zones.

I hate people who disregard other people's opinions because they dont' agree with them. Just because they present a differenct case doesn't make them wrong. I have no issue with the odd spelling error as its a forum and I just try and get down what I want to say.

People who turn a blind eye to rules transgressions are no better than those breaking the rule. Whether it is done deliberately or with intent (I hope not) then it is a penalty. Call it even in a freindly especially if the other player genuinely didn't know. They will now and will be less likely to make the same mistake if you've cost them an extra shot or two

At the end of the day there will always be the odd persoanlity clash and flame war. Providing it doesn't descend into some of the sectarian and personal abuse we've had and nobody holds a grudge then it'll usually blow over and we;ll al get back to an even keel. All in all it's still the besy golf forum out there

isnt that the beauty of a forum Homer, being a member on 4 or 5 this is the only one I post on regularly which speaks volumes ;)

I feel the forum needs to have more sections/sub sections but hopefully the new one will solve that when it arrives

sort the search out

also getting an error when posting sometimes and having to go back and posting again grrrrrrr

I must admit a pet peeve of mine is when people give posts subjects like "Why is it that..." so you're forced to waste valuable seconds opening the discussion to see what it's really about. Bah!

Oh my god this annoys me so much!! I just don't open threads now that have stupid titles...

Whilst we're at it. I don't like all this talk about golf stuff. I mean, folks coming on here asking about which ball, which trolley, what waterproofs, what clubs etc. What do they think this is? A golf forum!?

Good grief. Whatever next?
:D

+1

Pheck golf.

Modern forums ( GM will get there soon I believe) let you hover the mouse over the title and you get the first few lines negating the need to click and be disappointed.
