• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Ok, so we've had "what you like about the forum"

My turn, my turn!
Actually, I have found this forum to be quite mature compared to some that I would frequent(non golf). As mentioned above I think more folks should use the search function.
I reckon that when the BB software is upgraded it should be a little more user friendly and as far as modding goes we will be able to moderate a thread with the surgical precision of seve's wedge rather than Bubba's driver. By this I mean that we cannot currently merge threads if tgey happen to be on a similar topic, one gets chopped currently.
It should also make it harder for the spambots to register as we are having to delete quite a few each week to keep this forum at it's pristine best, one of the thankless invisible tasks but like that gully shampoo, you guys are worth it.

When people don't read through their post before posting it and it being full of spelling mistakes. ;)
Also when a new interesting topic gets very few comments but a thread we've had numerous times gets twice as much (which clubs/waterproofs/trolley/shoes should I buy).

Those are just little things mind and all in all I love the forum

You cannot make another search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes.

Please use your back button to return to the previous page.

"it's not in the spirit of the game" argument - if the rules say you can or cant do something and its in black and white, then spirit doesn't come into it!

You want to try explaining the deliberate foul in pool to people who've never played it!

I'm continually amazed at the spelling and grammar mistakes, but I wouldn't hold that against anybody.
The worst one for me is using a full stop or comma instead of a space rather than as well as. It just makes it hard to read and a lot of times I don't bother.
Pressing RETURN every now and then wouldn't hurt either.

Like I said, I wouldn't hold it against anybody as half of the population can't read, half can't write, and the other half can't add up!

People who are intolerant of others views.

People that post questions that look like demands rather than requests for help.

Name calling in response to improbable claims.

Shockwave.

Seeing the reaponse on a thread of "+1", is it that hard to write something intelligent?

Folk that don't bother to read their post before sending and it is full of spelling and grammar mistakes, either laziness or ignorance IMO.

And the constant mind numbing threads on which ball or waterproof suit, there is a perfectly good search function why not try that before posting?

When you submit a post but forget to give it a title and you get the "All of the required fields are not filled in. Please use your back button to return to the previous page." message. When you return to the previous page, the post is gone. :(

"All of the required fields are not filled in." doesn't even make sense. That means that NO fields are filled in. It should be "Not all of the required fields are filled in." </pedant>

Now I write my posts in TextPad and Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V them onto the forum, just to be on the safe side. :)

People who use abbreviations such as IMO.

so many boring threads, not enough interesting threads on current professional golf comps.

i think it may be because alot of golfers arent actually natural sport-aholics but there seems to be very little interest in the professional sport, and intense interest in trying to break 20.

rorys insane SW hook to the green this morning, is less likely to fire a thread into life than a query about what hybrid is alledgely better than another.

Phil

Avoid the threads with the title 'Which Hybrid????' etc and only read the 'Rorys insane SW' type ones. :)

People who give threads a title like "favourite ball cheap which" instead of "which is your favourite cheap ball"
Can you write the words in order please?
Thank you

I must admit a pet peeve of mine is when people give posts subjects like "Why is it that..." so you're forced to waste valuable seconds opening the discussion to see what it's really about. Bah!

19 & 20 handicapers who droll over Mizuno MP59 & 69 irons saying how much they want them, wake up guys you ain't going to be able to hit them look at JPX if you want Mizuno.

People who would post on the opening of a packet of crisp's just for to get there post numbers up.

Someone who alaways advertises his V Easy gets on my tits, pay for advertising like the rest of the companies stop ramming it down our throats.

The slagging of Smiffy with " knob" its boring guys it ain't that when he's always organising your outings every week isn't it.

What ball ,what waterproofs, what bag check the search

The rant goes on.

Those who give a blow by blow of every shot the hit in a round after 100 is boring as hell

I'll be back later with more.

That's put a smile on my face.
