Went out for a game today - well I went out and chased a white ball around the long grass, thistles, stingers and clover.
Never have I had such an up and down round. Tee to green for the first few holes was dreadful - short game was sparkling. Tee to green didn't get much better and the short game stayed decent all the way round. 13 points and 3 lost balls on the front, 11 points and 2 lost balls on the back. And that's after a 40 pointer last week. I came close to running out of balls. Every time there was waist high rough, I found it - but not the ball!

The really frustrating thing is that I did hit some quality shots but they were far outweighed by the poor ones.CVG played well and scored 38 including an Imurg stylee blowout on a short par 4.
Still, form is temporary, class is permanent as they say. Lets see what happens next time. Tempting fate here a little but I can confidently predict it can't be as bad as today.

I played 9 holes tonight but didn't really enjoy it. It felt a bit rushed and my tempo was off resulting in a few big hooks. especially down the short par 3 6th where I hooked two twoards the OB and the trees. There was the inevitable sound of 3 piece on timber and I expected both to be lost. Had a quick rummage amongst the ferns and couldn't find them and was walking up when I found the 2nd one just in bounds and lo and behold about 10 yards closer to the green was the original sitting nicely on a piece of grass. Thats all my luck for my match on Sunday used up!

Lost a ball on 7 when I hit a huge hook into the environmental area (protected ground and strictly no looking or entering) and decided to go onto the practice ground after my 9. Big mistake and ended up hitting several shanks and had way too many moving parts in my swing. Went away and chipped and came back and it was better but I feel the need for a good range session tomorrow am (unless anyone fancies a game at RA around 9.30)

I had a friday sweep tonight, Lost one OB on the first took 6.
Par'd 2,3,4. Big high slice on 5 and ended with a 5.
3 putted 6 for a 7 after finding a fairway bunker. Followed by a horrible double on 7.
Bogey on 8, found the sandy stuff again on 9 and picked up another bogey. 11 over at the turn and didnt think it could get worse....

Drove down ten with a hint of frustration.... ended up in the water 320 yards down the way. Gutted. Took 6.
Lost a ball on eleven after trying to chop a tree down. Again 6.
Hit a Big draw down 9 and was very happy... Then decided it'd be fun to put it in the water again, Then fluffed the next one and bearly missed the water, ended up taking a 7!
Bogey on the par 3 13th after missing the green left.
Made a stupid bogey on 14 after leaving my putt short.
Lipped out for a birdie on 15, Found a massive greenside bunker on 16, ended up with another special 6.
Drove the 328 yard 17 and ended up with a birdie, Found the 18th green and made a birdie...

Sometimes i hate this game.

Played in a friendly 4 ball today. Paired up, matchplay (we lost!!!)

As a high handicapper I was quite pleased with my game. Nobbed it off the 1st which wasn't one of my better starts. However, got my game together, of sorts and finished the round with the same ball I started with! Some memorable good shots, especially round the greens which I can reflect upon to keep me positive.

Can't wait for the re match!
