Oakley

Love my oakleys but the lens has eventually split, 10 years old +, trying to chase up a new lens of the original M frames from oakley customer service but it's probalby just as cheap to buy a new pair.

A few people talk about the lenses scratching but with the half jackets you can swap them. Does anyone do that or in the real world does no one bother? Can the frames cope with lenses being popped in and out or will they crack?

I used to have a pair of flak jackets and changed the lenses back and forth from G30 (golf) to polarised black plenty of times with no issues.

The frames are very flexible. I can't imagine them ever breaking.

R3. Thanks. Exactly what I wanted to hear.

Incidentally, any reason why you did not leave the G30 lens in at all times? Were the differences between the lenses very noticeable?

(order now placed. Bring on the sunny weather)

I suffer from migraines, so in very bright light I put the darker lenses in.

The G30 are still good in bright light but they also make things much clearer in normal light. It's weird, they make everything look a lot redder, but they really help with definition and you soon get used to it.

It's hard to describe, but I'd be surprised if many people didn't like them.

I switch between lenses frequently in my Fast Jacket XLs, again depending on the light. I use the dark lenses on bright days, and the others the rest of the time. It helps with my hay fever. Switching lenses needs to be done carefully, and it's a bit fiddly first time, but pretty straightforward in the end.

I didn't get on with them Gary - I didn't find that the G30s made much difference with vision and I also found that my pair scratched up really easily. The flak jackets themselves are superb though, would definitely recommend them, but I now just leave my black lenses in all the time.

Do you buy all of your lenses online or is there somewhere you go to to see the different lenses. I have looked at the online Oakley guide and there are so many lenses it is all a bit overwhelming.

Super fast service from Clubhouse and my new G30 Iridium Half Jacket glasses have arrived. Very swish and light. Reading the blurb that came with them it states these lenses should not be used whilst driving. Not sure why but do other people who have them only use them for golf or also for general purpose sunglasses? If you use them all the time do you switch lenses or just leave these ones in for everything?

I get that Oakley want to make extra money by pushing you towards specific lenses for specific purposes but in the real world does one lens suit all?

good choice, my oakleys live in my golf bag and I have regular sunnies in the car for general use.
