Gents and ladies,

I know there are a few who use their sunglasses, what should I be looking at in there range. Will be using them for golf, happy to look at 2nd hand and older models. Also would you buy a set from e bay considering the chance of fakes ?

Cheers

Midnight...

Just so happens that I'm selling my oakley juliets with 2 sets of lenses!

But seriously, you cant beat them. Especially the x metal variety

check out 'Hot Golf' on Ebay. Some great deals on Oakleys to be had there. I have used them before, as have a few on here and they quite reputable.

Just bought a set yesterday from clubhouse golf, half jackets £55

Bargain so hopefully we get some sunshine to try them out, always have difficulty following the ball directly into the sun

As someone who has not tried on a pair of Oakley's are they noticeably that much better than other brands? In this case against the likes of Nike and Adidas golf sunglasses. I tend to buy sunglasses around the £25 but fancy going a little bit more upmarket this year. Oakley's seem to get consistently good reviews but the tightwad in me is still a little wary about spending the extra money. Do you pay for the name or is this an occasion where you really do get what you pay for and it is worth paying extra?

I don't usually spend much on sunglasses but have hot Oakleys and really like them

My Oakleys have always lasted much much longer than the cheaper brands. If I get less than 10 years out of a pair I'd be surprised, whereas cheaper brands seem to get damaged and worn (twisted) much more quickly. I also appreciate that they can be very dark; I find it really helps mitigate my hay-fever symptoms.

As with anything like this it may boil down to personal preference. In my own experience, over the years I've had a couple of 3 pairs of Ray Ban's, SunDog and Adidas golf sunglasses. For me, none have been as good as my Oakley Flak Jackets, the Oakleys fit better, stay in place, are more comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the lenses are crystal clear. I've worn the Oakleys for 7 years now and have never given thought to changing them.

I did make the mistake of getting prescription lenses for them, but that was because my prescription is not needed for driving or use away from the computer. The store that sold them to me should have known better there....... So back with the original lenses which are great for golf, driving the car or walking in the sun.

I have one slightly chipped lens where I dropped them getting out the car, a very small chip on the bottom edge so not unwearable. I was going to replace the lenses from eBay (about £40) but may just buy a new pair at this price.

I have a pair of Oakley Flak Jacket XL with the golf specific lens (G20 I think). They are awesome. Dropped them from not a great height and scratched quite badly. I bought from Oakley website, you just know what your getting that way.
