• We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!

Not Welcome

Hope you had great delight in playing and getting a place and shaking seniors captain hand as you collected your winnings! :D
well done for sticking with it and glad the rest of the members are decent people.

Total vindication for sticking to your guns and cocking a snoot to this pathetic joker. Hopefully a few of your partners will mention it. Stick with it now, play as many competitions as you can and enjoy your golf. If he does continue to be a pain, report it. You've as much right to play where and when as the rest of them. Well played as well

An update to the thread. Played the Texas Scramble today and the team came third. Five of my drives were nominated, including the 17th and 18th holes where they were the 'best' balls, so I didn't disgrace myself.

Other club members, who are not Seniors, have heard about the Senior Captain's comments to me and been very supportive, just like the members of the Forum. Thank you.

Excellent!
You have totally vindicated your decision to stay and play.

In my opinion, a TS is one of the best team comps for a relative newbie like yourself. Because the team can choose to ignore the worst shots and choose the best, it is very low pressure.
I've normally been really pleased to get someone on my team with maximum hcp because of how it will positively inflcuence the team hcp, and everyone can come up with good shots somewhere during a round.
5 drives out of 18 is an excellent perfromance- you must be dead chuffed

Ruddy superb stuff  good to read things like this and in a way well chuffed "you have stuck it to the man"! I bet you was buzzing by the way you played and it's also nice to hear you have a lot of support in your club and not just us loons on here! :)

Well done on seeing it through and playing some decent golf. You must have felt under tremendous pressure to play well after all that had gone on.

Hope you met some new golfing buddies that you can play regularly with and help you to continue improving.

Don't sweat the small stuff. Theres knobs everywhere. I used to belong to the most archaic golf club ever, juniors were scum and to this day no ladies allowed. 2 events stick in my memory. Upon some knob signing up to play with me in a medal I was trying to make eye contact with who i thot he was. He ignored me and went to the first tee. So i followed. Without looking at me he said "the names mcdonald youu can call me Major" to which i said the names Kirk you can call me captain. He picked up his ball and reported me to the captain (ex ryder cup player) for dissent !!! What ?

3 yrs later and i'm in the junior club championship with about 80 senior members watching this guy cuts in and tees off the 14th when we and the crowd were on the 13th green. When I asked him whats going on he said "Youre a junior arent you" and walked past us - NOT ONE OF THE SENIOR MEMBERS WATCHING SAID ANYTHING.

Like I say knobs r everywhere

first laugh i have had all day :) love it .....
