What you don't realise is that I have bags of natural talent.

Probably because its hidden behind lorry-loads of natural modesty, obscured a small mountain of organic natural bullsh1t.

or should you take your tongue out of your cheek before you do yourself an injury.

Tim

I guess the answer is simple. Put three handicap cards in and come on here with an official club handicap. That way we can all follow your progress down to scratch. There is a world of difference as I've said to the OP on the original post between shooting a level par round and getting and maintaining a scratch handicap. Just for clarification is it the former or latter you are actually aiming for.

Judging by your first round at the H4H day you must have left your bags of talent at home. I admire your dogmatic approach to your goal and our steadfast belief that you can shoot a level par round (I'm assuming that is what you actually mean). It is do-able - heck even I've done it in the past. Getting a scratch handicap is a whole different proposition and one I truly don't think you'll achieve. Sorry but just my view
Homer you are being far too kind to a guy who is so in love with himself that he sniffs the toilet after he takes a dump (IMO). None of our questions will be answered as it involves the guy showing some humility. I am personally fed up with Timgolfy's attitude when it comes to skill and ability. Does he even own a putter? Did he putt with his driver on the help for heroes day? Speaking of which who did he do? Was it scratch or was he to busy scratchin himself like the caveman he is

Re: ParFromAfar.com 12 month scratch challenge has launched...

There is more chance of Cheryl Cole knocking at my front door, wearing nothing but Lace top Holdups & a G string, and murmering huskily 'I need you.....' than me ever getting close.

Don't mention that scenario to me in the next Matchplay comp or my mind will not be on the golf for some while. :D

A tad harsh. Personally I don't think Tim will get anywhere close to a scratch handicap. A level par round is achiveable and maybe being a range jockey is the way to go. However he did say after the H4H game that he acknowledged playing and hitting balls were two different animals and that perhaps he over estimated how much work he'd need to do playing. Since then he's reverted to type and hit the range. That's one of the main reason I don't think he can achieve either goal but I think you are being a bit over critical (rude)

Re: ParFromAfar.com 12 month scratch challenge has launched...

having met Tim and able to see some of the sarcasm in a lot of his posts I hope he does do it. One thing he does have is self belief and commitment!

good luck I say

Well I am just a bit angry at his lack of understanding of how hard the game is and how he believes he can accomplish scratch golf so easily if I sounded a bit rude, well at least my point was heard but I retract my statement if any feelings were hurt but I was a bit worked up.

i believe tim does the odd spot of angling, tends to get a few bites, and is sometimes required to use a net, has some cracking posts though :D

Re: ParFromAfar.com 12 month scratch challenge has launched...

Having met Tim i can assure you he means no harm,in fact hes a wind up merchant, and i know from behind the computer he is having a right laugh at the people who are biting at the bait hes dangling.
Also having played golf with him,ive got more chance of becoming a mum than he has of being a scratch golfer,of course there is a chance he could shoot a level par round if theres no bunkers around.
Keep up the good posts Tim always entertaining :)

Not sure any feelings were hurt in the making of this thread. I hear you loud and clear about how hard the game is. I was an ok golfer as a youngster and the brain still thinks it can be but the 45 year old body isn't listening. Add in a short game that is non descript at best and a round destroyer on a bad day (all in the head so even harder to fix) and I totally understand where you are coming from. I think Tim sometimes post to be controversial and it usually works but I really hope he's learned from his H4H misfortune and realises golf isn't made on the range. Sadly though I'm not convinced. It is one thing having a great game off the mats but get long rough, uneven lies and the need to manufacture something (not even taking into account a need to chip, putt and play bunker shots well) and there are too many things he won't have worked on for him to get to his target.

Re: ParFromAfar.com 12 month scratch challenge has launched...

O'h Tim, keep up the with postings it's great to read your p*ss taking.

Play scratch golf - mmmm - no you wont!

We have 600 members at our club and there is only (Ithink) 2 scratch golfer, apart fron the Pro and his assistant. The two are lads who were talented juniors and are now full time at the Sussex Golf College run by Denis Pugh.

We have a load of talented single figure guys, all capable of shooting level par and under any day of the week but they are not 0 handicap players and never will be.I have parred (gross) both 9's at different times, which is scratch golf but I am nowhere near a scratch golfer and, sadly Tim, your too old, not talented enough and not dedicated enough to get there either!

No, it is not the correct answer.

Re: ParFromAfar.com 12 month scratch challenge has launched...

I'll update the forum when I have three consecutive level par (or sub par) rounds.

That's raised a question.

Player A is putting in three handicap cards and each one is level par. What would his handicap be?

Would it be scratch or would he get +1?

Depends on what the SSS for the course is , doesnt it ?

Having been a well wisher & supporter of Tim (not timmy) in the past i tend to agree & enjoyed some of the replys ,,, BUT THEN i started to ask myself is this a serious golfing forum or a comedy / sarcasm/ wind up forum .. im on here to ask serious golf related questions & get opinions & answers , i have learned bits to rules i thought i knew but obviously didnt understand correctly .. The constant wind up posts have become a tad tiring & tedious , if its controversy & conflict someone wants then watch Jeremy Kyle or oprah or someone & leave the golfing forums to people who want to use it for its intended purpose, This is for anyone that the cap fits & is not aimed soley at Tim .. I like his (&everybody elses) "genuine" posts & the odd wind up by some one , but not one person over & over. oh & also.. change the record on the content ..
