I have set up a golfing mega challenge to achieve an official EGU handicap of scratch within just 12 MONTHS!! I HAVE NEVER BEFORE HAD A GOLF HANDICAP OR PLAYED MORE THAN ONCE A WEEK REGULARLY.

I am playing / training / writing / fundraising FULL TIME and the whole project is in aid of the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research. I gave up my full time job to do this. I WRITING DAILY to my website with video, photos, interviews etc.

BBC Radio 5Live are following me, TalkSport are following me, why don't YOU follow me and find out my full story at:

It's going to be quite a year!!

so long as donations arent based on you achieving your goal then your onto a winner, a free year of golf :)

i think if you have enough natural talent and you now have the time then you could play a scratch round inside a year, i think i could myself.

but a scratch handicap? best to not get one for awhile and see how little you can leave yourself to do.

Phil

So you do actually play golf then but have decided to give up work to chase this.

Would you be surprised to heard that other guys have done this, most failed, those that did it wrote books and is now considered "old hat".

We get bombarded with blogs on this forum, the majority fall on deaf ears as they are all "Me Me Me".

Check out this statistic.

Sorry to be so blunt but even with a charity donation involved, I couldnt sit and read someone elses daily tribulations and frustrations.

GREAT! I wish you and several others that are doing the SAME THING the very best of luck. Sorry, but I WON'T be following you.

P.S. No NEED to emphasis everything in CAPS. I can read very well without THEM.

is this the guy who has he's own business and could afford to have time off to do this. A scratch round i still think is a challenge.

There is being able to practice, and being able to practice correctly to improve with guidance etc, just like timmy smash factor found out. I know if i was to practice every day my golf would get worse because i couldnt afford to do it with enough coaching involved so would no doubt ingrain bad habits, but my putting would improve

either way its for a good cause, so good luck.

Good luck with your challenge, feel free to PM me if you have any questions or concerns at anytime. My advice is to play as much as possible, keep records of what parts of your game are going well and what parts you struggle with and target your practice sessions accordingly.

YES! BRILLIANT! I can't believe it! Last night I entered the lottery - I wanted to win £89,000,000 - I didn't.

But, today, I read that there's ANOTHER blog to follow. How lucky am I??

And, it's another guy wanting to get to scratch - inspired!!

Can you do me a favour though, can you make it as utterly tedious as the other 4,103 hacker to scratch blogs that I've been asked to follow??

Whoa there fella! I never said I wouldn't read a dessert blog....

Glad you've got such publicity and it is for a decent cause but scratch in a year has been done and recorded in the book Dream On by John RIchardson so its nothing new. I guess you are lucky that you could give up your job which 99% of those on here can't even if we wanted to try and emulate you but so did the author.

You aren't doing anything new and to be honest having read the book I can't see what will be so different about your efforts. Personally I doubt you'll make it. There is a wolrd of difference between playing a level par round (and not even competitively) and getting and holding a scratch handicap. If you could do the latter that really would be a story

Phew!! a supportive balanced response.

These seem to be a rare commodity in the golf forum world.

Good, sensible advice which I will do my best to heed.

Check out the website an d give me any other feedback you see fit.

Thanks Charlie,

Clive.
