Evening All. We're looking into booking a holiday cottage at the moment for next Spring, but as we haven't been to the Area before I'm looking for advice as where to stay.

Ideally we'd like- Seaside Village,A few Shops..local Store etc, at least 1 Dog Friendly Pub within walking Distance. Good beach close by.

..and maybe even a good Golf course ;)

I've briefly looked at.. Bamburgh, Alnmouth, Seahouses, Beadnell.

Any advice welcome, things to look out for or to avoid ??

All pretty good options, but id probably go for bamburgh. No particular reason just love the place.

Tynemouth is also a good spot which I'd fully reccommend as a solid base, although that's strictly Tyne and Wear.

Bamburgh or Seahouses would be my 2 choices
Next door to each other
Stay at 1, could walk to the other
Great stretch of beach that connects them
Dog friendly area
Seahouses has a few pubs, plenty village shops, fish & chip shops, harbour area
Both have golf courses too ;)

Bamburgh seemed a nice place, so probably cant go wrong there.

Alnmouth also have all you asked for, and we also had a few bevvies in Warkworth which is just a short taxi ride away from Alnmouth.

Lovely part of the world, and cracking people, as well.

Stayed in Beadnell a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. 2 dog friendly pubs in the village, great chippy and a small but will stocked village shop. Stayed literally a 30 second walk to the gorgeous Beadnell Bay. Dog loved it. But all the beaches up there are lovely.

As for golf played Bamburgh which was quirky but great, the views were to die for. Also played Dunstaburgh when I've been before, another great track. And Goswick isn't far away.

When you're there go to Alnwick castle and gardens, book a meal in The Tree house restaurant in Alnwick gardens. Otherwise some great walks along the coast, Ship Inn in Newton by the Sea is a lovely walk from Beadnell. We enjoyed it so much will be back there again next summer, lovely part of the world.

Cracking pub on the seafront at Beadnell, highly recommend that place. The wife's gaffer has a lovely cottage not far from there which he let us use a few years ago, not sure if he still rents it out but I can ask if you want?

Not forgetting Craster, great pub in there, dog friendly, does a cracking crab soup and crab butties, straight over the road you've got the smoke house so you can get you Craster kippers. That's all that's there, but you've then got a short (mile and a bit) walk to Dunstanburgh castle, then you could continue past the castle and walk along the Golf Course, grab a cuppa in the course club house, they welcome walkers. You got the bonus then of getting some exercise and seeing what the course is like as well. From Craster to Dunstanburgh Golf Course club house and back probably around a 4 mile walk.

Alnmouth ticks all of those boxes and more. Strong location for the rest of the area as well.

Personally I would not touch Seahouses as it is about fish & chip shops and arcades. Bamburgh, Beadnall and Alnmouth are infinitely nicer. Bamburgh is lovely to visit but as a base for the rest of the area I think Alnmouth is better located but you don't lose in terms of facilities available.

Loads of courses to choose from, links and parkland. There was a thread on this recently but I can't remember who started it. Ask away though if you fancy some golf up here. Plenty of advice available.

Bamburgh all day long, beautiful part of the world! I would also highly recommend a boat trip seal spotting to the Farne Islands!

If you can hang on til i get back from holiday in two weeks al ring a pal who has a bungalow 200 yd from seahouses golf course. Not sure if he only rents to friends. If he is open to other than friends if you dont love the place i will pay for your hols myself. If you are goin to northumberland. Seahouses is as good a place as any to use as a base.
