Norfolk golf courses, which ones.

Cheers spear - chucker me man. When we went to Northumberland there were four of us. Next year there will be five of us. So where ever we play it looks like being a 3 and 2 ball. We were spoiled this year coz the day at Tyneside go was £15 cheers MIB. The golf coastal classic was £140 for three courses and £300 for the bungalow/ accommodation. So all in all it was a cheap golfing week. I have mentioned to the boys that our oop north trip was a one off when it came to total cost of. Will talk to the boys re courses we will play, but being parkland players they are usually our favourite. Goswick did nothing to wet our appetite for links. But you cannot go to the coast and not play links. Brancaster does look gorgeous. Having had a quick look. Brancaster, Hunstanton, Sheringham and Kings Lynn look faves at the mo.

All nice choices there, boss. You'll have a great time - recommend mixing it up to keep everyone happy :D

Don't know how much travelling you are prepared to do but if you fancy splitting it into two then you could also look at Suffolk which has a few tracks worth playing namely Aldeburgh and Ipswich (Purdis Heath) plus Thorpeness which is decent too. They are all inland tracks so would keep your boys happy. Just a thought.

not played it, nice track?

Ryston Park -Its a ok little 9 holer just south of Downham Market on the A10.
I played Gt Yarmouth and Caister a couple of years back and thought that was a cracking links track. Hunstanton,Brancaster and Sheringham my favourites.

Have played Hunstanton, Cromer, Brancaster and Royal Norwich.
Loved Hunstanton, my favourite.
Cromer was good too, in lovely condition, but it was very windy the day we played so was playing tough.
Didn't warm to Brancaster for some reason. Great clubhouse, you can "smell" the history. But the fairways were very sparse and sandy, every shot was like playing out of a bunker.
Royal Norwich was nice, a super parkland course. I'd like to play there again.
We also visited Barnham Broom. My God. Never again....:mad::mad:

Royal Norwich is in the process of being shut down, so it's not in great condition at all at the moment, and wil be worse when shut 😂

I'm not sure if Hunstanton and Brancaster allow northern folk on actually, maybe on an odd Tuesday in December, but pretty sure they don't.

Uniform of brown loafers, yellow socks and faded red cords required....black Labrador optional though I believe.

Great track though!

Im a member at Middleton and quite like it, more a member for convienince as I live in next village. Really like swafham, mate is member of Lynn and played it a couple of times, well kept but i find it a bit samey, the undulations are interesting for someone whos only played in norfolk though.

Did that start life as a 9 holer when it first opened???
I'm sure we played this when we visited a few years ago.
First hole was a par 4 with something like a tennis court on the left hand side, or some other OOB????
Lots of trees down the left too.

I believe it used to be a 9 holer but that was a long time ago from what I've gathered. I joined last year when I started golfing a bit more seriously. The first is a lovely dog leg left par 4 with trees on the left oob and driving range on the right now. Bit of a brutal first hole for someone as eratic as me. I like the fact that not every hole is grab the drive and belt it, though if it was I'd probably be better with the big bat. People who I've met down there are nice too which always helps, always willing to talk to me even when I first started there.

I thought I heard that somewhere but wasn't sure.
Shame, because it was a nice course.

It's been sold for housing and they are moving to Weston Park. A lot of money being spent on a new clubhouse and course redevelopment at Weston at the minute. Royal Norwich is basically just ticking over and being maintained just enough to keep it open until Weston is finished they can move.

Weston was due to close in April but nothing on that as yet. Norfolk handicap league is there the end on the month or so. Not sure when the work starts but guess winter makes scene.

Looks like it will be very good once done though.

A friend on mine played with a society in Norfolk earlier this year.

He was really impressed with Cromer. Not just the course, but the welcome they received and the way they were treated by staff and members alike.

Out of interest what was wrong with BB? i'm a member there so interested on which course you played and the issues

Royal Norwich was OK. Kicked RickG's arse round there, so it has fond memories, but it wasn't great. Had a very good day with the driver.

Sprowston was a goat track. And the goats weren't that interesting. The 9th was about the only decent hole if I remember it correctly. Dog leg left.

Thetford is a superb course, well worth a visit.

I was was a member there when I was in the RAF, very challenging and always in superb condition.

Really surprised there is not more love for Swaffham really nice track was in great nick when we played early this year

Shaun me man, ave got 4 to 6 courses in mind and daughters father in law is a member at Swaffham. And it has decent reviews from what I have read.

links/ coast choices are. Cromer, Sheringham, Hunstanton, Brancaster.

parkland are Kings Lynn and Swaffham.

They are early days, Brancaster would be the dream course listening to our club pro today but how you would get five on there is a massive problem. 🙁
