Many clubs will still be working from the old guidance regarding the standard PL period. Under the new guidance, this no longer exists, and PL should only be in place when needed - so not with a fixed end date.

I’m at a links course. We usually don’t go onto PL until about the end of October and come off them in March. We do use mats Dec to Feb.

Yeah there are a few clubs that follow the same mantra - 1st oct until 30th April was when governing bodies allowed clubs to put in Preferred lies without asking county etc

New rule allows that flexibility all year round which is good

The only change is that you don’t need to drop a mail to the County now, we have had quite a few clubs on PL in September this year because they have done exactly that.
It’s just a paperwork reduction change which is no bad thing.

The good thing it’s not allowing it to be year round - clubs will need to only use them when needed and be taken off as soon as possible
I think the way the weather is going it makes perfect sense.
But they will have to be careful about being Q comps and major board comps with PL
I know you can have them but there not expected in summer
