No match thread??

Whilst we won't get near winning the World Cup it appears to me that we have qualified to play in the final stages. Teams that havnt qualified from Great Britain and Northern Ireland will, of course, get behind us I am sure!

?
Even tho you chose to ignore our fine country Christopher ( huh), i will watch and hope England do well , only time i hope they loose is when they play Ireland .. sames goes for N.I , Scotland & Wales

Your getting a bit moody , you'll take it to the limit
.ps sorry for hijacking the thread.

How long has this been going on? Still; I'm only moody wouldn't want to become a wild thing.

P.S. Also sorry for the hijacking.

I watched Chelsea play the other night and there was not one English player in the team.

I watched Hearts play a couple of days later with a team of young Scottish players 8 of whom were under 21.

I think Scotland will have a much better national team in 5 years time. I can't say the same for England.

What year was that then? Don't think you'll find it was this season.

I've actually been quite vocal in my praise of the upcoming Scots breaking into the national team. I think England still have similar players coming through but the biggest obstacle any player has is the weight of media pressure. Andros Townsend will be the next to get the full media hype in the same way Beckham, Lampard and others have had

I suspect that the different attitudes are as a result of Scottish folk majoring on their National team,

Much truth in this - when your only real chance of experiencing real success and a wider recognition of the team you support is through the national team. That and the fact that the minds of non-sevco and non-Ceptic supporters have not been polluted by NI politics. The pollution that has in the past driven too many supporters of these two Glasgow teams into Irish Republican and 'national' UK Loyalist camps. If only that could change - Scotland would be a much much better place.

And btw - on the Scotland v England thing. Remember that given the above - then for many scottish football supporters the greatest and highest profile football derby match is that with England. As a St Johnstone supporter our local derby rivalry with Dundee is not exactly that much to get that excited about - but as many if not most of us are also are fervent Scotland supporters we take that supporters 'derby-match' thrill and satisfaction from our national derby opponent - and that is England.

So in just the same way as say Man Utd and Liverpool supporters take great glee out of the other losing - never mind in derby matches - Scotland supporters take great glee from England losing. Simple really.

Lots of English teams would love to have that record.

Maybe so, lots of teams worldwide would. Not what was first said though. Your original statement made it sound like it was a recent event not over a quarter over a century ago. Still a fine achievement though and one that unless football goes to the wall financially we are unlikely to see again a team full of Scotsmen getting to a European cup final.

I believe you were in Inchinnan, Ayrshire and Fife, you know what we call a good looking woman in these areas? a tourist:rolleyes:

Glasgow and Edinburgh cities are a different kettle/barral of fish:whistle:

Robbie Burns was constantly intoxicated..........for good reason:smirk:

And talking Fife - how do you know that a Dundonian lass is having an orgasm? She's paused eating the pie she was busy scoffing ;)

Ryan Gould 17 years old valued at £5m target of Liverpool.
Team mate John Souter also 17 years old valued at £1m target of Everton.

Both regular first team players at Dundee United.

Stevie May - 20yr old from St Johnstone.

Also - what an English club patronisingly and condescendingly offer and pay for as young Scottish players will not bear much correlation with their worth - the English club will know the figure the Scottish club can't turn down - and that won't be that much - and so that is what they will pay. Cost and worth are not the same thing.
