No idea what heading other than What a nerve!

The +2 was on the green. I came to where my ball was and saw 2 balls. By then he had condescended to come back and look for my ball. The other ball was 3 foot in front of mine. He saw it a picked it up and said PROv1X and into his pocket it went.
Ok let's start again, because obviously this is a serious issue.

So why, with a ball 3 feet in front of your own, and your partner on the green, did you not just pick the [****] thing up? :D

1 I needed to identify my ball and he was like a rat up a drainpipe.
2. Because I was playing well I was concentrating on my game and did not care about the other ball.
3. He has quite a reputation and did not think he would come to look for my ball.Perhaps the shock finished me off!

Personally I'd be reluctant to play with him anyway. Not so much the ball incident but he hardly seem the most sociable fellow if he never comes and helps anyone in the rough. I bet if he's in a comp at your club and doing half decently and puts one in there he's asking his partners to help. Not sure the ball incident is the biggest crime of the century and I'd let it go. If you fancy a go with a Pro V then just buy a sleeve of three and see.

Played in the Comp last week with a +1 handicapper

How did he change from a +1 handicap to a +2 handicap on the same hole? ;)

You arrived and saw 2 balls. Why did you let him keep wandering over to help you look for your ball if you had already found it? - why not just shout over "I've found it"?

Why not pick up the other ball before he arrived?
He came over, saw it and picked it up - why shouldn't he as you didn't pick it up?

Sorry I don't undertaand any problem or principle involved. :D

3OTT,
I have to agree with some of Birdiemans comments above......
Fair enough he was blunt and insulted your ability with the remark......But.....What i love about a situation like that is it would spur me on to get better.....Situations like this come about all the time and im sure you will no doubt come across it again one day but accept his statement whether it be true or not.....When the wheel turns you'll have your say.......when your confident enough to use one of the ProV1x's(dunno whats your handicap) just make a point of sticking your name down with his.......
Walk onto the first tee and put plenty of emphisis on the ball you are playing before your strike....
and then when you walk off 18 just say "Im seem to be plenty good enough to use Pro V's now eh mate"

Your day will come just be patient

If it really offended you say something to him or dont come on to a forum and snipe and complain anonousmaly. But IMO it is a ball so what let him have it if it means that much to him life is too short.
